Whiplash

Just watched it last night with the wife. Excellent movie with superb performances and a great, tight Jazz soundtrack. Now I want to seek out some Charlie Parker and Buddy Rich tracks.

Far cry from Buddy Rich, so when you get to actually see some real footage of the master in action, those drumming performances in the movie will really be dwarfed! Yes, great flick even knowing that, as I did going in!

BR was definitely t-h-e guy. Saw a You Tube video of him playing and doing a drum solo in pain. Later it was determined that he'd been having a heart attack.

The guy was a force of nature.

Haven't seen Whiplash, but have seen a few of the trailers. The main character plays OK, but there are so many talented drummers these days that he doesn't really stand out in the footage I saw.

It's a tough choice between Big Swing Face and Mercy, Mercy, Mercy. Both are outstanding. Of course, Neil Peart doesn't play on them, but they're outstanding anyhow.

Neil "The one trick Pony" Peart! Too funny.......even though that one trick was a Rush of $$$$ the trick is what the trick is, and he performed that one trick well. Enuf said about that., and I did see enough footage of the movie while my 12 year old son and his friend were watching it yesterday to know that I defiantly want to see it with my wife. Looks real, real good. especially if you are a player!

Loved the movie, I bought both volumes of the Burning For Buddy that Neil Peart produced after viewing the Whiplash Blu Ray. The stories of those Burning for Buddy sessions make for an interesting read.
