Im looking at purchasing a new tube amp & found one that meets my needs. Its from the same seller as i bought my tube cd player through. I remember when i did buy it-it was a BIN amount or 'best Offer' & i saved maybe 30-40 bucks on unit & love it...Well i see a tube amp & he wants i think its around 805.00 & it doesnt say 'best offer' so last night i messaged him & ask him if he could give me discount & he messages me back & says he can do it via PP & it would save him E fees @ 750.00...... Has anyone ever done this & is it too risky for 55.00 savings ? When i originally had questions on the tube cd player he was super to deal with & treated me well on price. Im not sure putting his ad on is a good idea as i dont want to cause any ripples but can pm certain persons that has more knowledge at this kinda situation. Any recommendations/feedback would help alot. Thanks
..

That's a tough call, but I think that at that amount...over $800...I would go through the regular channels to save your a$$.
To me, the extra $55 would be worth the peace of mind, especially with a tube amp.2 ChannelTurntable - VPI Classic 2/Ortofon 2M BlueAmplification - Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II, Parks Audio Budgie PhonoSpeakers - GoldenEar Triton 17.2 Home TheaterDenon AVR-X3300W; Rotel RMB-1066; Klipsch RP-280F's, Klipsch RP-450C, Polk FXi3's, Polk RC60i; Dual SVS PB 2000's; BenQ HT2050; Elite Screens 120"Man CaveTurntable - Pro-Ject 2.9 Wood/Grado GoldAmplification - Dared SL2000a, McCormack DNA 0.5 DeluxeCD: Cambridge AudioSpeakers - Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary; LSiM 703; SDA 2A -
Thanks. I wasnt sure if some here do the same. Im sure E fees are going up & sellers feel the pain-as we pay those fees..

I'm sure that's the case, and if you've had solid dealings with him in the past it's even more tempting.

If i pay through PP & i put item money is for on the account when sending it & if there is any problems does PP back me ? Or is that why its best to go through Ebay. I know 55.00 isnt much but its 1/2 the price of a pair of RDO's i see your point. There is no way of telling. Even with decent reviews & my past sale it could be risky if not backed by Ebay..

I think it's only covered if it goes through eBay. If you receive it and it's not as advertised, or if it never even arrives, PayPal won't care. EBay will reimburse you if there's a problem with the sale.
Still if you really trust the guy it's worth the savings, but as was said earlier, there's a peace of mind factor also in that extra $55. -
I just messaged seller to send invoice of item to my email address. Hope it went through. I will see what invoice looks like & decide after. He has over 4000 sales & good reviews & been around almost 10 years on that site..

for me its more about the squaretrade warranty. You can only purchase one if you buy through ebay or another reputable site.
