Your wish has come true. An excellent job by the academy tonight. Peter Jackson is very deserving. -
It seems as though by sweeping the Oscars, the acadamy sent a reward and message to Jackson and his team for all 3 films. Very deserving!
Too bad Sean Penn had to be an A$$hole and make that "No WMD's" plug in his speech. Him and Depp need to booted out and shipped over to Iraq to live.
JohnNo excuses! -
I did not watch'em, too boring, but am glad to hear PJ got what he deserved. Very cool!
As for Penn, Depp and all other actors out there. I don't really care what they say or do in their own personal worlds. There acting is what counts and they both are damn good at it. Depp is still my favorite actor, no matter his personal opinions. They have as much a right as we do to voice it, they just have better access to do it.
Like with Penn, that is just one of many reasons I do not watch these award shows. But mainly, it's a plain waste of time.
Peace Out~:DIf...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -

There was going to be an agenda comment at some point....it's inevitable....either Tim Robbins or Sean Penn.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I personally think Sean Penn is not a great actor. He's done a few really good roles, but mostly he just annoys the hell out of me.
Depp is good tho; but I still think think of his :America's a dumb puppy" remarks when I see him.
Then, I think of this: -

Maybe this pic would explain to that moron (Penn) why WMD's are not being found...There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin -
The funny thing was that when they buried it, they didn't seal the exaust and broke the canopy (In addition to removing the wings). They should have just put it up in the air where it would have done some good as target practice for an Eagle.
Depp doesn't bother me since he no longer lives in the US, plus he's a pretty decent actor. There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. I didn't watch a lot of the show, but I did see where one guy made a pretty long speech about it (much longer than Penn's brief comment) and Billy Crystal winced after he was leaving stage and said something to the effect of "I'd hate to be around for his tax audit." I was ROLLING!!!!!!!comment comment comment comment. bitchy.

The "guy" won the Oscar for best full length documentary. His subject matter was the Viet Nam War and the powers that pulled us into that quagmire. Most of his remarks were aimed at his work and the lessons there to be learned.
In the closing moments of his acceptance speech, he voiced a concern that we may not have learned and may once be again on a slippery slope.
I too laughed at Billy's tax audit remark, but there are some very scary undertones there...
On the lighter side... I would love to have a collection of the opening montages when Crystal hosts. They are a scream. Even Michael Moore got into the spirit...More later,
