I bought a NEW OLD STOCK JVC QL-A200 from http://www.vintagehomeaudio.com/ since it was on sale for 50% off. $184 shipped to USA.
I replaced the conical stylus with an EVG AT-11 green elliptical. I got the overhang to as close to 32mm as my old bifocal eyes can do . JVC MD1029 cartridge.
Wow and flutter: 0.025% wrms
Signal to noise ratio: 78dB
Works and sounds good so far!

Well done! I use to have a QL-A2 during my misspent youth. It was an excellent turntable. Enjoy.Decware CSP3 Preamp, RCA 6DJ8, 2 X Rocket 6N1P-EV's, Cary SLA70B Signature V2 Amplifier: 2 X Mullard GZ32's, 2 X RCA/GE 5691's, 4 X Tung-Sol 6550's

They had a QL-A2 for $299. I really liked that one but at 50% off, the QL-A200 was a deal

Old capacitors in vintage NOS equipment are more liable to fail than ones of the same age that have been in use through the years.......or so I've been told. (Not an issue with a turntable, though.) Enjoy !Post edited by gdb on

Figured I'd gamble on NOS. When you buy used, you never know what might fail from age as well. If this dies, I'm not out a lot and if it lasts another 20 years, well I win!
-
Good luck w/ it. I've lost more at the track.

Very nice! Some of these vintage tables perform comparably or better than some of the newer stuff out there. Plus you will pay a lot more money for the newer quality TTs.
Congrats on your new JVC!Carl -
Its working great. Records sound so good
-
Congrats! Glad it is working out.

Sometime I plan on an LPgear ATS-12VL vivid line stylusThe LP Gear ATS-12VL ATS12VL needle stylus features a 0.2 x 2.9 mil Vivid Line diamond exquisitely polished with precision and carefully mounted on a thin-wall metal alloy tubular cantilever for long playing life and exceptional tracing of record grooves.

As I told you in mail reply for those who don't know my QL-200 came from Tom Haney Terry Dewicks retail partner in Knoxville Tenn. Mine cost $70 + shipping and he charged me for the tie down bolts he got from Home Depot which was better for shipping. I couldn't have asked for a better job packing and it came w/ a Grado FT+1 cart. Works every time and I gave up on going for a Dual 1229 for this at a much lower price.

Nice kit! I'm nostalgic for Dual myself.
(that guitar is strung the wrong way ) -
For a budget table, it beats anything new out there under $1k

Low E on top high E on bottom just for righties. Not a player, just minor eye candy. The Fender Squire you see was found box, gig bag, strap, didgi tuner and all by my dumpster a few years ago. I can have only 2 guesses why it was left. 1. It was out right stolen from some apt and they got cold feet and left it. 2. Some parent got very mad at their kid and tossed it. I did see them at Guitar Center for $ 100 for the entire kit. Not a scratch on it and the stand was $11 @ G.C.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E
