LSiM 706c + LSI9 & Micropro

Hey Polks,

I have had some LSi9s for a couple years now and have a MicroPro 1000 with them. I'm thinking of adding a centre channel speaker as I seem to be watching a lot more movies recently.

What is everyone's thoughts on adding a LSiM 706c and on timber matching etc etc?

I should also mention that I'm thinking in the next couple years I will upgrade my LSi9s to 703/705s.

Cheers!

Since you are planning on upgrading anyway, get the center channel and be done with that purchase. It might not match now, but it will when you get the fronts. And who knows, your ears might be just fine with all of it. None of my speakers match, but everything sounds just fine to me.

I've been using a 706c with lsi 25's while I wait for my new 705's. It is a fantastic (and huge) center channel. To my ears the 706 blends rather well with my 25's. Just make sure to set your levels with an spl meter or receivers auto setup.

From what I gather, having a quality set of fronts is much more important than matching the manufacturers or "timbre" among them. Regardless of the speakers, you should also have a decent receiver with the ability to run room calibration (Audassity, MCACC, YPAO, etc.) to get the most out of your hardware. The 706c looks awesome, and I hope to consider upgrading to that in the future also. Best of luck!!
