So I've been looking at TT's lately. The Technics 1200 is not sounding right. I believe the cables are shot. I've looked as some new on the net and some used ones on eBay. Anyone have any experience on Parasound? TTB 720? There is a Marantz TT 240 on there too. Also saw a Onkyo CP 1027F. As for new I've been thinking about the Pro-Ject, the Music Hall, and the Teac is my favorite cosmetically. If you have any thoughts or opinions on any of them or personal experience I'd be interested in what you think. Budget is between $250 - $500 I think.

Sorry - I know its not your question, but I'd think getting it recabled would be well worth the minor expense - those Technics 1200's have a pretty solid reputation.VA HT HK AVR20II, Sony S9000ES CD/DVD/SACD, Polk Audio RC80i / Polk Audio CSi3, 60" Panasonic Plasma, Nordost / Signal Cable A2 / Wireworld / Pangea / Magic Power

Oh I just realized I put in the wrong number. It's a 1400. I think I paid $75 for it a few years ago. I considered this but don't have a solder set up that is worth a darn.

So I ended up with the Teac. It's what I wanted out of a TT right now. I wanted to be able to use it on any system, has a built in phone pre, I wanted to be able to easily go from 33 to 45, it has a switch, and I wanted it to look like wood. I love the wood look. This table has an Audio Technica AT95E Cartridge which from what I understand is a decent cartridge.

I have not had a lot of time with the table yet but I can tell you I really like it over my Technics. The only drawback I have found is that it does not have an auto return. Not that it matters but growing up with TT of the 80's it is something that has spoiled me. The bright side is I finally get to enjoy the special tracks on Jack White's "Lazaretto" and the locked track on "Sgt Peppers." I also like the idea of being able to try the USB out with some of my vinyl that is not available on CD or digital format.HT/2Channel: Emotiva MMC-1, Adcom GFA-555II, Polk SDA 3.1's, Teac TN-300 TT, Polk Center and Sub.
