Custom cable risers

Whipped up a set of cable risers.
They are intentionally "unequal" as my SCs are MIT Terminator Bi-wires while the cable for the Dreadnought is single wire so there is some good size difference in cables which required different sized grooves to rest in.
They are about 2 inches wide, 2 inches thick and then 3.75 inches tall.
They are from some walnut that was recovered from a 120 year old barn.

I see what you did there, clever. Are you going to put a finish on them?Political Correctness'.........defined

Probably going to just shoot a couple of coats of poly on them. I want to showcase the grain but I don't really want them to be a focal point."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

On a related note, I have a nice chunk of maple (recovered from a massive stair railing) I may explore some options with.
I am also going to throw together some flexi-racks from some left over veneered plywood I have. Walnut, cherry, maple and baltic birth. Not sure how much I will have an how many I can make but we will see...also have edge banding for the cherry, maple and birch."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Let me guess, you're a wood working guy? Nothing like nice wood.

A bit. I am technically and IT geek but I did finish and cabinet carpentry for 75032985092 years before I went into IT.
I use a friend's shop which has most of the tools I need for my personal projects and he has a bad habit of never throwing away stuff he considers scrap so I almost always have a bunch of odd stuff to work with.
He does have me do a bit of work for him now and then...either computer stuff or electrical work (also a former union journeyman electrician).
Actually, I am a lot of things I rarely use anymore...
Graduated from college with a degree in Graphic Design...
Got out of the Army and became an ASE certified diesel mechanic (Dodge, Ford, Detroit and Cummins) and an ASE certified Parts Professional...
Was a painter's apprentice in a body shop for a time...
Got into construction originally doing steel erection then tilt up concrete and eventually the electrician gig with the same company...
Then went into landscaping where I eventually ended up running a large company's nursery and equipment maintenance...
Left there and went to work for my buddy mentioned above and spent years working for him off and on...
Eventually went back to school and got some fancy IT certs and became the "Can you hear me now" guy while testing E911 for cell companies...
Which led to several IT jobs eventually culminating in my current Systems Engineering position I have now.
But part of me will always appreciate seeing the results of my labor at the end of the day.
When you build a building, you can step back and admire your work.
When you build out a new server environment, you can step back and realize that nobody on the planet but you will see or care about the work you put in but you as they only care if it works or not. Hehe"Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Wow and I thought my background was diversified.

@ZLTFUL, I guess you forgot about your years as a chip and dales dancer huh? Or too embarrassed to list it"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963)

Those cable risers look awesome, if you ever think about making any to sell, drop me a line. Stained in cherry....even better.
Quite a diverse background there pal. Certainly gave you a look at a diverse group of people....or should I say characters ?
While mine may not be as diverse, interesting enough though I used to do stunts for movies, sold real estate, managed fast food joints in and out of state, and spent the last 25 years in the construction business. Talk about characters....HT SYSTEM-

I didn't even get into the between jobs stuff or my senior year of HS...hehe.
Assistant manager at a convenience store, injection molding press operator, forklift driver for a truck accessory manufacturer, clamp truck driver at a Circuit City warehouse, sales for Radio Shack and Best Buy, commercial roofer, insulator...yeah...for a long time I had no idea what I actually wanted to do.
I may make some more but need to find some time between swamped weekends and my upcoming surgery."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Thanks.
Hoping to fine tune some things with it. I started off by trying to use the dado blade at a 45*...you can sort of see the results in the large single groove looking almost like one side of the V is ridged.
The rest of the cuts were simply a single blade at 45* and then flipping the board to run through the saw the opposite way.
It resulted in cleaner cuts and far less to clean up with the chisel afterwards.
I also cut the grooves and then cut the risers to width. I will stick with that as it was much easier to run a 3ft long board through than it would be to run a 2 inch chunk through. Hehe."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."
