Yes or no on front height speakers with my setup

I am rounding out the setup of my HT room/mancave/family room. I have the 1.2TL's up front, with the sides and rear covered by the AB-800 and AB-700, which are the voice-matched in-walls from Polk.

The main wall is 19' 6", side walls are 16'... listening position will be 11'6' from the main wall, with 9' center to center on the big Polks.

I do have a couple questions about the need for front height speakers given that I will be using the SDA's up front. If I use them, they would be punched all the way up to the top corners above the doors. I can still close up the holes. What do you guys think?

It's a matter of person preference John. Since this is your mancave though, I would think better to have them and not use them much than to want them after the room is finished. HT isn't exactly using less speakers as it ages.

I am inclined to just fill the holes on these for now, as the soundstage created by the 1.2TL's is pretty massive already and at the distance I will be from them, the benefits will be negligible at best. I will have 7.2 in a 400 SF room with 8 foot ceilings, so I think I am good. :)

My last place I lived had smaller ceilings yet I foundthat adding heights was a welcome addition. Providing the speakers go good together its better having the heights engaged than not. My first movie I tried them on was terminator 4 and the jets in the air whizzing around spraying amo and lobbing bombs sounded fantastic, try it for yourself and see if "YOU" enjoy it then decide if its worth being a permanent fixture.
