Whats your worst experience with a receiver?

Two years ago my vintage Realistic sta-820 was starting to get hot when it was on, thought it was just normal for the age. A few weeks later while I was playing the receiver I heard this pop sound and the recevier stop playing and flames were coming from the top vent about 4 to 6 inches high. I guess I was lucky to be there to put the fire out.

By any chance, was PFB (or BlueFox) over for a listening session at the time?

First HDMI AVR I had the HDMI board went out. At the time I had no idea what was going on. So I'm checking connections, changed cables until I find out that a lot of Onkyo's had the same problems!@#$%Anaheim Hills CA,

This guy was humping from his attic some Bose 601s. I knew what they were. I did the refoam and some clean up work and had some great speakers for some time. Also up in this dusty attic was a Sansui receiver and I asked how much for that .He said $20 if it worked. We plugged it in and there was so much dust that real flames started to shoot out the top vents and I unplugged the thing and tossed it to the curb. The drapes were close to this and we did almost have a house fire.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

Onkyo Tx Sr 705...sounded great, lots of power, but ran very hot in 7ch mode, it would set off an internal alarm. Also it would lose some of the Audyssey settings with even a brief power outage. It would then run hot again until I would do a factory reset or rerun audessey. I bought this unit used for quite a big chunk of money at the time, and was very disappointed after discovering the issues.Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

Worst experience ?
Owning one. Aside from my old B&k 307 AVR, no other receiver I've heard comes close to a good integrated or separates. Music wise anyway, HT you have no choice but to do receivers as all the decent pre/pro's are fairly costly.HT SYSTEM-
