New to 2 channel

in 2 Channel Audio
So I am putting my foot in the door, I want to see what all this 2 channel none sense is about :wink: So I have started a very entry level system in my bedroom. I have some lsi15's with the vr3 mod and a little dot tube amp... I believe a tripath amp. In my home theater I use audio quest type 4's with great results on my front 3 speakers. I have been a little brain washed by this forum and I would like to try out some MIT cables. locally for sale is a pair of MIT AVT3 Bi-Wire speaker cables. for a little less than 200$cad. Could I get some advise about this cable? Is this a good price? Would like to try something other than audio quest, as all the interconnects and wire in my home theater is audio quest. thank you!

    Which little dot amp are you using on those 15's ? I hope it's not one of their low powered units, otherwise you may be doing more harm than good to those great VR3 crossovers.

    Cable wise....it's a toss up. Personally I think you should move up the MIT chain but for the 2 bones on the AVT's, not bad. I think the Mit will offer you more mid bass slam and better clarity at both ends

    Thanks for the response tony. Could you recommend something to me? I tried the type 4's and they seemed to lack mid bass, nice sounding cables though, work much better for home theater. The little dot is a T150. I believe it's rated at 150watts at 4 ohms, per channel, And has a huge toroidal transformer. Almost half the size of my sunfire. It seems to run the 15s with ease :smiley:

    Eh...as long as your not pushing those 15's volume wise, you should be ok, but they do like more current behind them.

    On to the cables....the MIT's, even the AVT's in the line up have mid bass slam and better soundstaging imho than the AQ's. Might be a better match for the 15's as the 15's are a more laid back speaker and the MIT's more forward. To my ears, the AQ's are too withdrawn in the mids and vocals.

    How long of length are you talkin' ? Analysis plus 12's are reasonable and brand new at around 200 bucks for a 6 ft pair. Acoustic zen Satori....gonna have to find those used though. Too many to list them all, but you want a more lively cable with those 15's....same for the IC's. The MIT's is a good place to start and a lot are available used for not a lot of scratch too.

    They definitely do! Had them hooked up to my sunfire 400x7 and at reference they never showed signs of stress!

    I would say i need 6 to 8 feet in length. I will check out the cables you have mentioned. My budget could be 250-300 range, preferably used. As the Canadian dollar is shite right now, so would like something local. I will check out canuck audio mart a little closer for some deals and report back!

    alright tony I have decided on the mit cables, as there wasn't much selection up here, and second hand seems to sell a little on the high side up here. I was able to get the avt3 cables a little cheaper! Thanks for your recommendations. look forward to replacing the mono price speaker wire!

    Got my cables today. F1nut, these are some seriously nice cables! About 3 times thicker than my audio quest type 4's. I played some music in the back ground today to help burn in. I've already noticed an increase in bass. I will do some critical listening this weekend. I'm in for a treat with some mono blocks.. (I hope)

    They were used as a demo, original packaging. They look new. I guess maybe they don't need much break in. So far love them!
