Hello all
just acquired some monitor 7 IIs , locally, after also stumbling upon a "vintage" yamaha cr-820 receiver. The yamaha needs a few caps replaced, but I understand the two are an excellent match. I did listen to the monitor 7s and they sounded very articulate.
question: is there a major difference in original monitor 7s as opposed to series 2? i know there were different tweeters used throughout both speakers' productions. is that the only difference?

I also own Monitor 7's, I have the 7b's with Peerless tweeters and the Series 2 that you have. The Series 2 is 8 ohm capable, which means it can be driven easier and by a wider variety of receivers/amplifiers, not so much an issue with a small speaker like this with an 89db efficiency rating (a medium range rating). The series 2 used only the SL-2500 tweeter an improvement over the SL-2000 used immediately preceding in the previous model version 7c. All of the older monitor series (pre series 2) used 3-4 different tweeters, two different (but similar, first Danish then US made Peerless designs) and then the Polk branded SL-1000 and SL-2000 tweeters. Your stock SL-2500 tweeter can be upgraded to the new Polk sold replacement tweeter model RD0-198. Welcome, I'm new here also.
