Ortofon Mojo or Ortofon 2M Black Phono Cartridge?

Seriously considering a Music Hall mmf 5.1se talked to a salesperson at the Needle Doctor the table comes with the Music Hall Mojo cartridge which is made by Ortofon but thinking about upgrading to the 2m Black. The Mojo sells for $500 the Black goes for $755 normally $800 just wondering if the 2m black would be that much of an improvement over the Mojo. The sales rep told me that the Mojo would be just fine, but some people prefer the sound of the 2m Black. Has anyone heard either of these?

How much is the upgrade? Just the difference between the price of the MOJO and the black...$255?

My understanding is $255 you upgrade in your cart when you checkout and the price difference is subtracted but you don't see that difference until after checkout. I would hate to not get the 2m black but the sales person assured me the Mojo is a fine very detailed cartridge.

Sorry, I can't be a ton of help as I haven't heard either one. I guess it depends on your personality...are you one who will obsess about what might have been? Or would you be happy once you make your decision on the mojo?

That's my problem I obsess about everything the what if's get me everytime. If I settle for the Mojo, I won't be buying the 2m separately at that price that's for sure.

That's what I was thinking. This is probably your one shot for a new, high-end cart like that.

And I bet the MOJO is good, but they don't sell that in their regular line do they?

I guess keep looking up reviews.

I will say that when I upgraded my cartridge I was looking in the sub $200 range. I ended up springing for the Grado gold which is $225 or something. I've never had a "what-if" moment, but I know if I would have went with something lower, I would have always wondered what the better cart sounded like.

They were originally putting a high end goldring Cartridge on this table but changed over to the Mojo on the newer models, I was told the reason was they are favored over the goldring. I guess I could obsesse over it that way. Hey thanks for the input.

I was originally considering Music Halls entry level with a 2M Bronze cartridge which also gets very good reviews so maybe I should be satisfied with the second choice.

So I hear, what the heck replace the blue stylus with a Bronze stylus bet it fits that red cartridge.

I may wait until the red seems to need a replacement and do that or maybe a major TT upgrade with a MC cartridge....got over 2k coming back but not in a hurry anymore LOL... probably just put it into savings for now...
I know myself I love looking at new TT, but I'm happy with my TT sound...

Keep us post .. I know it always a tough call on a TT and cartridge about which one should ya get. have fun with the choosing.

I can see why they would change from Goldring to the Mojo. I had a goldring 1042 and I prefered the Denon DL160 over it... and at the time the denon new was 1/2 the price of the Goldring.

I have not heard the Mojo but, it looks like it gets good reviews.

I have heard a few ortofon carts but, not the black. Again though, it also gets good reviews. Sometimes though a cart. will sound great on one table and not another. Trying to find the synergy thing again LOL.
