How is Netflix?

Being an Amazon Prime member for 3+ years, I'm getting REALLY tired of the direction they've taken.
Commercials, on Prime videos?
And now, you can't download content that you paid for, to your pc.
So...I'm looking for feedback from Netflix users, because I can't 'see' anything on their website.
How does it operate?
Do you get to keep the content you buy?
How much is it a month/ year?
As always, any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks

The website gives the basics. You are Renting everything, and buying nothing. It's a steaming service. I have prime mainly for shipping but use the streaming increasingly often (and have never seen a commercial???) but also have Netflix, for kids as much as anything. I think both offer a great value for the coin.Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

Its a combination of a couple of things:
1. Streaming only - you have access to anything in the library to watch as many times as you want unless they pull it from the library (for contract issues with the distributor)
2. DVD/Blu-Ray only - you setup a plan with 1/2/3 DVD/Blu-rays out at a time. You put in a list of movies you want to see, and they send you what they can from your list. If the movie is part of a series they attempt to send you disc 1, then 2, then 3, but might not do it back to back to back.
3. Combination of 2 & 3Do you get to keep the content you buy?How much is it a month/ year?
Cost is dependent upon which plan you build for yourself. They are month to month and you can add/remove features at will
Hope that helps. Here is what I do.
I will watch a movie on Netflix/On-Demand, etc. If its a one and done, then I dont worry about it. If I think I'd watch it again then normally I just purchase it as the Netflix library fluxuates in regards to whats on there.
Additionally anything you watch on the Streaming is compressed and limited to Dolby 5.1. Is that a MASSIVE dealbreaker, not really, I dont know of a company providing lossless audio soundtracks, but worth mentioning. The video is to some extent also compressed, but I've never had an issue with noticing the difference.

We pay 8.00 a month for Netflix & 49.00 a month for our internet. Thats it. Havent had cable tv since 2003 YEAH love Netflix. Do research on what they offer to stream. Im not fussy on tv shows/movies from Netflix. That may be different with you..

I have no complaints with Netflix streaming. The device used makes a big difference. The Ps3 does a great job as well as my bdp-s5100 and fire tv. All does Dolby digital plus 5.1 (bitstream) and can stream higher resolution HD depending on internet speed. Picture and sound quality are really good from these devices, not lossless audio but at least as good as DVD.However the Netflix app in my other (cheap) Sony bluray player and roku stick only does stereo via pcm And picture quality leaves something to be desired.Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

The way it worked with Amazon, up until 1/1/15, was if you bought digital content you could DL it to an app on the pc. Now anything you buy, is on their 'cloud' which I'm not a fan of, because, the player on the app is better, and, If internet goes out, I can watch it on my pc. It doesn't happen often, but....
Thanks for all the feedback.
Couple of more questions:
What is the selection like? Can I stream TBBT. or Boardwalk Empire, etc?
Or is it only movies?I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -
obieone, there are tons of TV shows available on Netflix. The selection is very good, but usually it's at least a year behind on anything currently airing. Amazon, if they carry the same show, tends to get the latest season a month or more ahead of Netflix, but their selection isn't as large as Netflix.
However, Amazon has a much bigger selection of HBO shows, and I think I read that it's going to add even more of them. We have both services, no cable, and I prefer Netflix overall.
The Netflix website gives you a pretty good idea of what's available. We have the 4 screen package for about $12/month, so up to 4 different devices can be streaming at the same time. Without cable, we use Netflix a lot. I probably watch it 10 to 1 over Amazon. -
Not bad actually. I use it for traveling most of the time. Streams over the ipad, connected to the hotels tv via HDMI. Good content, worth the $12.00.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

I have Netflix and like it. Works great on my laptop when I am traveling and in the house I use it via the Roku 3.

You can't beat what you get for the price. On my BLue Ray my netflix never seems to buffer, but on my laptop running Netflix, it seems to buffer a lot even though I have a strong wi-fi signal. Anyway, well worth 8 bucks a month.Living Room

I use Netflix, Prime, HBO go. I find having all three is a great combo, and gets me most everything I want. One of the things people miss the most is that if you have a cable provider log-in (I use a mediacom one) With the log in I can stream ESPN (live), Comedy Central and NBC. Now you just have to convince a friend or family member who doesnt use their online cable to stream and bingo, you've cut the cord and retained ESPN, just grab the networks you can off OTA and you are set.
