Polk Monitor 7s

Greetings! I picked up a pair of Polk Monitor 7's today, but they have a problem. One of the subwoofers in it is bad, and whoever had them before me swapped one woofer our for a Peerless model. I'd like to find a pair to replace both of these so they're matched and sound the same. If you guys have any suggestions, I'd like to hear them. Thanks! (And if this isn't the right place to be posting this, let me know where it should be at.)

If your talking about the mid/woofer, it's a MW6502. They should be available from Polk, if not try the auction site.Denon PMA-900V

Auction site? I went to the Polk website, but didn't see anything. If you're talking about Ebay, I'm already looking over that.

Also, were they supposed to be 4-ohm or 8-ohm? One of the subs that's in the speakers now is an 8-ohm.

There are no subwoofers in any of the vintage Polks.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

I have a bad habit of using the terms "woofer" and "subwoofer" interchangeably. It's the 6.5 inch drivers. I found a pair on Ebay, but because I don't like Pay-Pal, I can't order them. Looking around right now.

it is a passive Radiator and not a active sub built into the 7's, so it should not be bad...must be a driver.2 ch- Polk CRS+ * Vincent SA-31MK Preamp * Vincent Sp-331 Amp * Marantz SA8005 SACD * Project Xperience Classic TT * Sumiko Blue Point #2 MC cartridge

The driver that's in there feels like someone pushed it too hard and cooked it. When pushing in gently, it feels like it's grinding against itself. I don't think it's the same driver the M-10's have (also have a pair of these in the house), but the drivers for the 10's feel very smooth.

ouch! yeah it sound like magnet shift or a bad driver period! awesome speakers and if it is replaceable, here on the forum these guys her can help ya out. I'd have to go digging to figure out what is in a 7. Many think the 7's are the sweet spot in the monitor series! so hopefully they can help you enjoy these fine speakers!2 ch- Polk CRS+ * Vincent SA-31MK Preamp * Vincent Sp-331 Amp * Marantz SA8005 SACD * Project Xperience Classic TT * Sumiko Blue Point #2 MC cartridge

I never knew midwest sold midwoofer clones...
Anway, Ludwikia, good luck man! Keep us posted. If you bought them used and they are being shipped, hopefully they don't undergo magnet shift during transit.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

I'm hoping the drivers survive! The 7's do some STRANGE **** with their soundstage, but it's wonderful. Very similar to the 10's, trading the low end of the 10's for a tighter upper-end. Then again, the 7's have silver-domes and the 10's don't, so that makes a big difference.

The amp and new drivers arrived at the same time, and they are VERY happy together. They're seriously trying to keep up with the 10's, which is a lot more than I expected.
