All Wyred Up!

The Wyred 4 Sound DAC-2 with the Femto Clock upgrade arrived yesterday. The Wyred 4 Sound SX1000 (570wpc @ 8 Ohms) mono's arrive on Monday (stole the mono's off of Audiogon). The Rogue Perseus is getting the "Magnum" upgrade at Rogue Audio right now and the new Philharmonic Audio Slims are being put together by Salk Sound right now.

Let's just say the big Christmas bonus went to good use haha. I'm pretty excited about it all. My listening room couldn't sound better with my DIY acoustic panels up now. I spared no expense this time around.

What the DAC-2 replaced was the Oppo 105D and the backup Keces MKii USB DAC. Without question, it betters the Oppo 105D which also uses the same ESS Sabre DAC. The DAC-2 has a laser like focus which means imaging is spooky good. It is forward sounding but not in a bad way.

The Keces MKii is probably the most analog sounding DAC I've ever owned with the Burr Brown DAC's. It's incredibly smooth, slightly dark sounding, and perhaps a little "loose" but in my system, and with my revealing speakers, it sounded very lush and engaging. The Wyred DAC-2 is 10x the price of the Keces but I wouldn't say it's 10x better. The DAC-2 is far more revealing and spacious sounding. There is just a lot more information with the DAC-2.

The Rogue Perseus Magnum will be here next week so I'm hoping to get that flavor back but retain all of the information that the DAC-2 brings. I bought the DAC-2 brand new and it is still burning in.

Once the system is finally put together, I will post some pics for you sicko's to look at :)
