Spooky Speakers - SDA 1B

I couldn't resist, I had to share what's already been shared many times over.

I spent a few days making sure I was kicking out up to 32bit uncompressed sound from my custom build HTPC

I got my hands on a Bryston 4B to drive a fully functioning stock pair of SDA 1B's and spent the last few days listing to Martin Scorsese Presents: The Blues: A Musical Journey

Now I've listened to a lot of music on these SDA 1B's but there are some scores on this 32bit flac rip that are truly spooky.

I've experience the sound stage move from dead center for vocals to bass coming from behind me to vocals moving from above me to dead center.

I had to check several times to see if the center channel was truly off.

The bass in many cases can't be located. It seems to envelope me with no point of origin. When the bass does have a point of origin it seems to move from a spherical point that keeps moving.

Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, Jimi Hendrix - Red House, Freddie King - Hide Away and Cassandra Wilson - Vietnam Blues are crazy

Spooky Speakers!

Consider what's ahead once you scrap the thousand-year-old electrolytic caps, dampen the driver baskets, pull the cabinet stuffing back up where it belongs, and generally do the typical mods 'n' repairs!

    The 1Bs are wonderful speakers.

I would if they were real wood cabinets. I'll keep them and try and get my hands on a set of SRS's or 1C's in real wood for the upgrade.

It's been a long time since I've just spent a day of solitude listening to music and not wanted to take a break.

Safe to say. The bug has bitten!
