Polk SDA SRS 2.3, New Owner

Hi,

Got a pair of these last year form a used dealer.
They replaced a pair of AR9's(Which I loved).
Getting used to the sound, (soundstage is mindboggling) but I think my amp is too light, running them on a Plinius (100watts per channel).
This is a New Zealand brand, nice performance on low volume, but distorts as soon as I open it up.

The owners manual mentions this may happen with CD playback.

Any ideas/thoughts/suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't know much about Plinius gear, but I did have a pair of 2.3TL's that ran quite well on a Sunfire Signature series amp that was 400wpc.

These speakers love power, so looking for a more high powered, high current amp would be a place to start. Also look for any possible shorted connection as well as do some research on the amp to determine if it is COMMON GROUND or not. SDA's require common ground. If they are not, then you can have all kinds of issues. Disconnect the SDA cable and run them to see if you still get the distortion and les us know what happens.

It's got nothing to do with playing CD's. I suspect your amp is not common ground.
