RTi4 or RT25i as rears with RTi8?

Currently I have RTi8s as fronts. I was planning on getting CSi3 or CSi5 as center first and get RTi4s for rears. But I saw a local ad for a pair of RT25i's in good condition for $40.
I know the rears do not need to match, but I prefer to.
But if this pair of RT25i's for $40 is worth it, I would like to keep them till I get RTi4's.
Is it a good deal for RT25i's? I read reviews saying these are excellent bookshelves. I plan to use them as rears and may be later have them in zone 2. Any suggestions? I am a noob with polk speakers so, any advise is good advise for me.
Thanks.

Rti4 for sure, later add some fxi3. Dont mix and match no matter what people say or you will pay. The price will be an uneven panning during blurays and video games. If you stick to all the same line that wasintended to match it sounds truly wonderful, pop in something like tranformers 1 on a bluray and you will notice right at the start.
  • For $40 grab them. If you don't like them you wan't have any trouble getting your money back.

If you have the cash go the right way and get some FX speakers or the 4's. the RT25's would be ok but you will wind up replacing them.
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

    Thanks for all the insight.
I think I am going to pass on those RT25i's and buy RTi4's. Not really thinking to go with FXi's, mainly because of aesthetics and an inevitable move to a house very soon.
Thats when I can really buy a CSi5 as well, unless I get a super deal and keep it packed until I move. No sense in buying a TV stand/speaker stand/entertainment stand till I have a room to properly mount them and WAF is always there.
However, I am looking for a pair of RTi4's and some stands for the rear. Don't want to drill big holes on the walls in an apartment. :)

  • Yeah, wait for the rti 4s or fxi3 or 5s. I have fxi5s and they are great imo. I originally grabbed some Polk r300 because they were cheap and local and now they are in the closet and useless. I feel like you'd end up in the same situation.

Figured I will end up in the same situation. Hence, I passed on the RT25i. I would really like to have a center channel than the surrounds right now, but CSi5 doesnt fit on my TV stand and I am feeling uneasy pulling trigger on CSi3 to pair with the RTi8s. Some say CSi3 is just fine and some say go for CSi
I think I will just buy a CSi3 for now and then go for CSi5 when I move and have room for new furniture.
For the rear and surrounds, I will go with RTi4s. Unless someone can absolutely convince my FXi's are better. :):
