Expensive..Speaker cable with Bannana terminations such as Audioquest

I think the factory terminated speaker cable such as the audioquest brand would be better than doing it myself. Any ideas about brands of cable and would it be worth it, those cables are big bucks!!! Is the improvement in sound quality worth the price HELP...

  • Hey Tony, thank you for responding. I have Monster cable with set screw style gplated plugs. I recently did the crossover mods on my Polk SDA2BTLs and would like to take them to another level. They sound great don't get me wrong but am wondering about the speaker cables and what I could or can expect to benefit from upgrading them.

Nope, nowhere near 700 watts, no receiver is. Probably close to 100 watts for 2 channel listening. Part of your problem is power. Those speakers wake up when fed some good clean current from an external amp. Problem for you is your receiver doesn't have pre outs to add an amp, so your stuck there.

Back to the cables....MIT terminator 2 speaker cables used should be a great improvement for not a lot of scratch. That or Analysis plus 12's used or demo's are reasonable also. Depends on what you consider expensive, you didn't really say a budget in mind.

  • Yep.. your right about the amp, I have heard polkSDA,s need 200 to sound right. I need to work on that. But one step at a time. My budget is 200 bucks and not dime over or the house cat will start to claw If ya know what I mean ha..

Hey man, stupid me forgot....your speakers aren't bi-wireable and those cables on craigslist are bi-wires. So nix those.

Probably would, even so.....don't want to have the man spend 200 on cables not right for him.

well we can agree on that but for the price if they could be, then it is not a deal killer I'd call up MIT and ask couldn't hurt to do that. Heck show up with 150.00 and see if a bargain could be had..

The man has other MIT cables too, anyone interested should look. The MIT terminator IC's look about right.

You can use MIT bi-wires with speakers that only have one set of posts. You would need to have bananas on one and spades on the other.

I've got a pair of MIT T2 bi-wires on the 2BTL's I gave my father. Works perfectly and sounds great....even my father commented on how much better the speakers sounded.

By using the MIT bi-wires on speakers with single posts you are effectively increasing the gauge while still getting the benefit of MIT's technology.
