TV acting up ?

Just turned it on & this. Never been a problem. Was working earlier fine. I think its a 2010 Toshiba. Any ideas ? I shut it on & off a few times & still there. Would you think its repairable or should i venture for a new one. cq010b28bmxg.jpg

I want that Sony 4k xbr900, picture is awesome. First set I've seen that rivals my Kuro in color.

Non smart 1080p sets are a steal now, toss that Toshiba and go get an LG.

Yeah, make me remember those days why don't ya. Stuff was built to last back then. This digital age has created a bunch of throw aways. Cost to fix most outruns buying new. Built in obsolesce.

  • I have a 46" Polaroid LCD in our family room, it just may make to the ten year mark. Purchased it in March of 2007 for around $1400, and never had a single issue with it...knocking on wood. My big brother purchased a 55" Sony Bravia about the same time for at least twice what I paid, and it's been dead and gone for a couple of years now.

Don't get me started on Sony lcd's....lets just say my experiences have been about the same as your brothers. Excellent pictures Sony has, maybe even the best out there, but longevity was never their strong suit outside their CRT's.

heh -- we're currently rockin' two (CRT) TVs - one I bought in CA in 1989 and the other one a hand-me-down from my parents, which they bought ca. 1983. We're not really TV people.

Everything I have ever bought from Sony has died prematurely.... 21" (was the biggest/best at the time)Trinitron TV lasted 3 years.... Sony CD changer 2 years... Sony CD walkman 1yearish.... and it's not like I abuse them either... F Sony!!! On the other hand I have had great luck with Samsung....I know some others have not...Where the hell can I buy a Zenith 25"color console "where the quality goes in before the name goes on" it. My dad had one that was like from 1970 in his garage that still worked that he just gave to Fred Sanford.

We had a 27 inch and a 32 inch Sony CRT that lasted us well over 15 years gave em to good will a few years ago, bet they are still working, we have a Sony projection TV a huge one that still works flawlessly, bought it when the Vikings lost the NFC Championship to the Giants I thought they would beat em and go to the super bowl, shelled out the bucks for that one.

They lost 41-7 something like that almost kicked the screen in, anyways that one is still working to this day. The bedroom Google tv Sony works great and the new one well I did buy a 5 year extended Warranty on it, but probably won't need it but the Samsung I've had problems with made me get the extended warranty I've had nothing but problems with Samsung my daughter has had problems with a couple of LG so it's Sony for us.

  • If you take the back off of the TV there are several ribbon connectors that connect the panel to the T-con board. You can watch You tube videos on how to fix this. It may or may not work, but it's worth a try. Modern flat screen TV's are pretty simple when you get in the guts. It could involve just cleaning a few connections, or simply correcting a loose one. If your a little more savvy, you can replace capacitors that may have gone bad, all pretty cheaply.

Picked up a LG 55LN5600. 55 inch Smart tv. I guess they go from 850.00 to 599.00 on sale. I called local BB & they said they had sale in n them for 389.00 + tax. I was shocked to see only 1 year warranty. So i took on the 5 year & walked out 491.43. I spent the day watching it & its not bad. I did see some 4K tv's (if that sounds right) that really looked nice. But i jumped on this deal. I mostly watch concerts & some movies on tv. So i couldnt justify 1200 plus dollars...... I gave the Roku 3 to one of our daughter
