How to repair ic's that have a frayed jacket

I have a pair of Shunyata Cobra's and at the ends the jacket over the wire is frayed. It does not look like you can unscrew them so my question is how can it be fixed. When these hang from the back of my rack the weight of the cable puts a horrible almost 90 bend and that's gotta be hard on them.

Pics would help but shrink tube is going to be my suggestion.
My original MIT Terminator SCs had a gap between the cable pants and the banana's "cover" that exposed the joint between the two so I threw some shrink tube over it.

Again pictures would help but have you thought about heat shrink over the fray and a few inches on either side?

I have but although it could fix it I dont think I would like the look of it as it would be messy. I will charge the camera up and snap a pic later.

If that looks "messy" to you, then my suggestion would be to cut the jacket off completely as nothing will make you happy.

No that actually looks like you a very nice pro job you did on those. The Cobras have a diff material on them otherwise I would be all for that.nd67crlyi0ls.jpg

The cobras have frayed on my ic's and on the stock pic my cables have all the material hanging out them and just flops and hangs like a wet noodle.

Heat shrink would work on that material. Get the kind that has a 3:1 shrink ratio so it'll be snug.

Your only other option is to reinstall that connector, stretching the covering in the process to better fit in the housing. If it won't stretch, you will need to shorten the cable about half an inch. This does require some soldering.

No reason to get rid of them. They are nice cables. They just need some TLC. The factory is an option or if you care to send them to me, I could give you options of types of repair, take of it and return them to you for free. If you're located anywhere between San Antonio and Dallas, I am driving up to Dskip's outside Denton on Saturday.

    Kevin, quit being difficult......geesh

Unscrew the outer shell, pull the techflex up, slip a piece of heat shrink over it, apply heat, screw the shell back on.

Lol, that was what I was hoping to do but I just cannot unscrew it for the life of me. If I can unscrew it then that would be ideal as the techflex would be concealed and provide support.

With his luck, I would either buy new ones or send them in for repair. Either that or video the power-up of his gear for our enjoyment when the fire department shows up.
