What is an "Hybrid SACD - DSD"

Is it the same as SACD?

Hybrid means the disc has both a CD layer and an SACD layer on the same disc. The laser pickup on an SACD compatible player can play back either the CD or SACD layer as selected by the owner. The CD layer will be playable on a standard CD player. DSD is the format name for the SACD layer (aka Direct Stream Digital).

There are some SACDs that do not have the CD layer included on the disc, and those are not playable on a regular CD player. There are also SACDs that were produced with stereo tracks only and SACDs produced with multichannel and stereo tracks.

Your Sony PS3 might be able to.
