RTiA9 Complete System or Not?

Hey guys,

Not sure what happened to my other account but looks like I'm starting fresh. I've been using Polk products for the past 10 years of my life since I got my first (cheap) bookshelf pair when I was 12. Since I've had many of iterations leading up to my current system of TSI200 Fronts, TSI100 Rears, PSW505, and a CS10 Center with an Onkyo 6** receiver. It took me years to culminate everything at the right prices but overall I want to say I only put maybe $800 into everything. It's been great at my college house the past few years but I'm moving out in the next year and into the real world with GE so I want my sound system to mature as well. Between selling a few of my other items with the setup I should be getting $1,200 for everything.

So right now I have an offer for the following.. all cherry
Pair of RTIa9
Pair of RTIa7
4 RTiA3's
RtiA6
4 30" Speaker stands

Yamaha Yamaha RXV777
2 Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2's

for $3,200.

I'd keep the A9's, Pair of A3's, and the A6 along with one of the amps.

My question is do you think I'd be able to flip the A7's, A3's, Amp, and Receiver within a few weeks? I know it's a great deal but my internship money from the past summer is paying me through this last semester. I have enough to front it but it's going to be a struggle until I sell those off.

So, should I act on it? All of these items are in original boxes with warranty information unused. They're only a couple weeks old.

    Couple things....

I think getting 1200 bucks for the original system is wishful thinking. I would sell both Emo amps and buy one that is more complimenting of the RTI speakers such as a Parasound or B&k amp.

I'd also look at different receivers as the Yamaha or 6 series Onkyo isn't going to do well either. The Onkyo doesn't even have pre outs to add an amp anyway. Nothing in the budget for a subwoofer ? Seems like your selling the 505 but that wouldn't be a good match for the 9's anyway.

Sorry, I guess I should give some more background. I'd be selling the entire current setup for $1,200. Again, I only paid around $800 for it so I'm making money off the deal.

In terms of what I'd be keeping - the RTiA9's paired with the XPA-2 connected to my Xonar Essence STX for 2 channel listening for the next months. This would be replacing an Onkyo-282 and Monitor 60's.

I'd then be keeping the A6 and 2 A3's for a 5 channel setup when I actually have my own place. They won't be in use but buying all of this together seems like a deal I shouldn't pass up.

The main thing is whether I could sell essentially brand new, fully warrantied A3's, A7's, the receiver, and the other XPA-2 to reap the benefits of the deal.

I'd like to think conservatively I could get $2,200 for those items meaning I'd be paying $1k for a pair of a9's, a3's, A6, and XPA-2. I don't think anywhere is going to beat that.

I think your dreaming on those used prices you think you can get. But hey, who knows...go for it. Me personally, I wouldn't. Bless ya if you can get it though.

Honestly, that's the kind of the feedback I need to be hearing right now. If I wait around for another F&F sale everything I actually want should be in the price range I want when I can actually afford it.

Everything is essentially new, though. Say I only got $1800 for everything I still think it would be a great deal.

There is no warranty unless purchased new from an authorized dealer with a receipt in the name of the person seeking warranty repair.

    You are seriously dreaming.
If I wait around for another F&F sale

Do not assume that will happen again.
    Everything is essentially new, though.

Unless the box is sealed, it's used gear.

Again, thanks for the feedback guys it's what I needed. Honestly my casual research turned into an overexcited moment when I saw everything that was laid in front of me. I'm sure I'm not the only person on here who's felt compulsive at what they thought to be a deal :)

I'd be selling the entire current setup for $1,200. Again, I only paid around $800 for it so I'm making money off the deal.

As for this, again, I'm in a college house selling to college guys who truly don't know anything. The sub goes boom and shakes the small room so they think the world of it.

In that case sell them the Emo amps and run to the bank.

He might not be that far off, I look at Craig's list and some stuff on there goes for more than new. Some guy was selling new in box RTi8's for $500 when the week before Fry's had the for $300 on sale and people buy it.
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

Yeah seems to be a common theme. People don't do their research. Then you have the exact opposite problem like Kevhed72 mentioned. I just don't think I can afford to be sitting on all of the equipment when I can only be using two pieces of it.

I would be interested in taking a pair of A3 s off your hands if that's the route you go.

From my short time here I've learned that you probably want to pair the A9s with either a Parasound or BK amp for the best sound. So I would just buy the pieces you are going to use right away instead of hoping to make a profit and breaking even or worse. The A9s seem to go on sale quite often at newegg and other places (I picked mine up for $750.00can) and there's a Parasound hca-1200 II for $350.00 for sale here. I wish you good luck with whatever way you end up going.
