DIY Interconnect Project

I recently acquires a nice length of Furez analog cable and Furez RCAs, thank you Voltz, that I plan to make into nice interconnects for my turntable. The cable has two center conductors and a braided shield. It seems like a very straight forward project until I run into various opinions regarding shielding. The options are:
  1. One center wire to center pin, the other to the shell, shield to shell on source side only
  2. One center wire to center pin, the other to the shell, shield to shell on amp side only
  3. One center wire to center pin, the other to the shell, shield to shell on both sides
  4. Tie the two centers together to center pin, shield to shell to serve as return
  5. One center wire to center pin, the other to the shell, shield is open on both sides

Most seem to recommend going with option 1, (floating shield) where one center wire goes to center pin on RCA, the other goes to the return and the shield connects to the return on the source side. The shield remains open on the amp side. Any thoughts?

Thanks

and now you know why the arrows are pointed to one direction. From my small experience it seems that on some cable that the shield makes for an inferior ground. That is why I'd like to at least have a dedicated ground wire.

    i usually opt for #3
