Never had RT series.
Are they worth the effort?
Thanks

I suppose it depends on the effort required.... ;)

They are generally considered among the best of the larger bookshelf speakers that Polk ever produced. I personally love them for music and find them very good for HT also. They image very well, but might be a bit lacking in bass for larger rooms. These were one of the first models with the trilaminate domes, some opine that later improvements on the tri-lams were actually not improvements at all.

Hmm... effort is half century but no need if they are not exceptional.

I actually REALLY like em, especially if you get em for under a bill. I have never had a woofer go bad, not in that series, not in any speaker, and I have had quite a few come through my house. Maybe I just got lucky...

  • They have moved from fronts to rears to vintage 2 channel for me.
I have yet to mod mine yet so I can't comment there.
(I'm sure there are threads on what is recommended)
I like the sound and detail for a 2-way on my vintage system
It turned my head a few times. They are speaker stands at the moment.
    Fun to swap in...

I would definitely buy a pair in good shape for under $100.

I have put many hours on my pair, and have had no woofer issues. However, the Polkie I bought them from had issues with them in the past.
