Best AVR for RTI A series

Hello guys,

I am new here and i just got my new speakers. I need to know what is the best AVR for my polk rti a5 (front), csi a4 (center), rti a1 (surround) and dsw pro660 (sub). I am planning to buy either the Yamaha rx-v777 or the marantz 6008. I love to watch movies and to listen to music as well. Thank you in advance.

I would go for one of the top of the line Onkyo as its sounds great with polk rti/

Yup, Onk is a good choice. Marantz would pair nicely as well. If you go Yammy, would recommend the Aventage series.

What is your budget like for a AVR? some folks got scared off from the Oinkers when a number of the avrs developed bad connections, I believe ( solder joints?) on the HDMI connection . I want to say it even happened in the Integra line also :o , . You are spot on about wanting a avr with preouts.

I have had my A5's hooked up to a couple different Denon's, a couple of Yamaha HTR series and Advantage series, heard them with a newer Pioneer, and a Onkyo which sounded the best and what I currently own. Onkyo sounded the best with the RTIA series speakers, to me anyways, definitely look for an AVR with Preouts.

I power myA9s nicely with a Pioneer sc-1227-k its the same as the Pioneer Elite sc61 minus the 12v triggers. Its one of the few affordable avrs that stays above 100w with 7 channels driven, most avrs drop below 50w per channel driving 7 speakers. I think you would do fine with a Pioneer Elite or my 1227 or even better a sc-1527. My A9s sound amazing with this receiver, I cant even imagine what they would sound like with a nice Parasound amp driving them.

scotvl....that is still not a lot of power for those 9's, they we play ok with that 100 wpc, but if you raise the volume to high you will clip a tweeter and damage them. just keep it at a normal volume like that.
but if you add 200-250 wpc amp using the preouts the sound quality will go way up :) and you can raise the volume a lot higher without clipping as AVR can not dig deep and don't have the extra power need at times like a dedicated 2 or 3 channel amp.

Pioneer SC series with the D3 amp would be a good solid choice.

My receiver is a sc61 clone it has the class D amps and I listen mostly in two chanel pure direct delivering about 140wpc. I know they would sound better with an amp but im in musical heaven right now until I can afford a nice parasound.

Wow I am so overwhelmed by the quick and the number of replies. My budget is $500 to $800. Based on the suggestions I think I will go for the Onk. I will ask for a demo on some of the shops here around. Thanks guys.

Which Onkyo you looking at? The TX-NR838 is a heck of an AVR I wanted a Pioneer or a Marantz but this Onkyo sounded the best to me. Keep us informed on your choice.

Bliss my online friend, bliss. Parasound hits my RTiA7s with such pure joy it's deceptive.

I bet they sound like pure bliss and I hope to find out for myself someday but for now Ill have to make do with the sc-1227. The A9s are my third set of polks but my first floor standing polks and Im in heaven. I just finished listening to 3 Jack Johnson albums in flac and I still have a grin on my face. The separation of vocals and the space between instruments was amazing, I closed my eyes and felt like I was at a live performance.
Now if you're saying it gets better than this(I know it does) then I have a lot to look forward to. I know my system is probably one of the lowest quality of any member here but i got the A9s for $375.00can each on boxing day and after realizing my Yamaha rx-v675 didn't have any pre outs or the power to push the A9s in a multi channel setup I found my pioneer sc-1227-k (an elite sc61clone minus the 12v triggers) for $350.00can at futureshop because it was a two year old model. This is the best system Ive ever had and for around $1100.00 it sounds amazing to me and is just the start of my trip down the rabbit hole.

Then enjoy the sonic goodness you have now - don't obsess (too much) about upgrades - worry about that later when you can no longer resist taking the first steps down the rabbit hole.

Nuthin' wrong with where you are now. Put some music on and relax!

The rabbit hole is *always there*
