I guys. I'm New in this forum and i will be very pleased to have your advice in my future choice to boost my front speakers rti a9. My actual system is:
Receiver - Onkyo TX-NR3007
Subwoofer - Rel Q200
Front - rti a9
center - csi a4
surround - vintage philips speakers
I am satisfied with this setup for HT, even knowing that rti a9s would perform much better with a dedicated amp. With my receiver i think that my rti's boosts good low ends. I even switch off the sub when listening to music in stereo. My only complains are the high ends when listening to music. Beside the amp i am thinking to upgrade my speaker cables, but this is another topic. So back to the amps, I want that every Euro i will spent (yes im from europe/portugal) return a good value for the money. Having this said i am thinking to buy an Emotiva amp. I know that there are some against opinions but, these are the only ones that I can afford. Other ones are just very expensives for my wallet. Im thinking in the XPA-2 (2*300 Watts). My doubt is between this one, and the XPR-2 (2*600 Watts). The XPR-2 wouldn't be too much watts to the rti's a9? Could you give me some advice on this? Please.

Your not going to need 600 watt for a pair of rti. A good high current lower watt amp will sound more meaty than a high watt emo.
There are many many options and I think if you give us a price range we can get you some better recommendations. -
Recently was considering similar options to drive my LSIM 707s
I went with the Parasound 2250v2 and could not be happier
This was my first amp purchase

Thank you for your quick answers. So, for what I understand, its better to stay as I am, instead wasting money buying an emo amp. I have done a quick search and found these ones from Parasound that Could fit my needs, the A21 (Halo line), and the 2250 v.2 (NewClassic line). I think the second one is more affordable. Do you think the second one it will be a good choice? Or the A21 will worth the extra money? Other question, just to kill my curiosity with the emo xpr-2 (2*600 watts). Are the Rti's a9 able to deal with 600 watts per channel from The XPR-2?

My friends. I don't think my wife would allow me to spent a lot of money in one of those Parasound amps. LOL (sniff). Given this, here are my questions:
1. Just for the case I Could convince her, do you think the Parasound 2250 model will be a good choice?
2. Are the RTI'S a9 able to andle with 600 watts per channel from The XPR-2?
3. If my only choice are the Emo, do you think its better to stay with my system as is? Or its better to get the XPA-2? -
Given your enlightning answers (not joking), my conclusion is to buy a Parasound as soon as I could convince my wife how awsome it is, and forget the Emotiva amps. After that, upgrade the front speaker cables. And thats all folks. Thank you all for your atention.

Hello Bad1550. Thank you for your feedback. My intentions are to get a better experience when listening to music, but Im not completely unhappy with my system as is. And i can't stop thinking If it will be so much better buying a 2000 euros amp(europe prices) and more or less 500 euros for the New speaker cables. Probably it will be better, but it worths 2500 Euros?

Paulo I tell my wife when I buy something' cannot put a price tag on something thats going to improve the quality of everyday life'.

As an aside, the Emotiva XPR series is a whole different animal that the XPAs.
I have owned UPAs, XPAs and now have the XPR-5.
It is not bright sounding at all. Those previous amps most definitely were.
That being said, if all you are looking for is a 2 channel amp to run the A9s, stick with the Parasound."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Polkfarmboy even I, have my doubts. But I asked for prices from local distributors (Portugal and Spain) and im waiting for them. Lets see whats will going on. I'll keep you up to date with the developments and my final decision, that will be one of two: stay as I am; or get the 2250

ZLTFUL it seems you have a diferent opinion about the XPR line. Why do you think its better the 2250 than the XPR-2?
-
I can't express an opinion about the 2250 as I have never heard one.
All I can do is share my own personal experiences with the Emotiva XPR line.
It is only as it relates to the other Emotiva lines. And in that light, it is better than the XPA sound quality-wise."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Ok ZLTFUL. I only asked because you adviced me to stick with the Parasound, wich is somehow a strange advice since you never heard one, and you have a good opinion of the XPR Line.
-
Because the Parasound has a much more solid track record while the Emotiva is purely my opinion. If you were to take a poll, much more members here would pick the Parasound over the Emotivas. I would rather have you go with a known commodity versus a relative unknown one."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Most of these opinions come from experience only with the UPA or XPA line. Having had both as well as the XPR line, I can assure you that the sound quality of the XPR line is in a whole other league than the UPA or XPA lines.
It handily beat out my Adcoms (GFA-555 and GFA-5500/5503) and a buddy's Rotel RMB-1095 and another friend's RMB-1585.
But again, I support the Parasound choice with the RTiA9s as my experience with the XPR is with LSis.

Hello Paulo,
As a Rti A9 owner myself running a Parasound 1500a. I have to say it sounds pretty sweet. Now I also own the Rti A7 and when I first got them I was using a pro amp cerwin vega CV 900 pushed the same watts but sounded like Cr@p.

Hi polk500. The main objective is to get a better experience while listening to music. This requires a good quality class a/b amplification. Having this in mind, the feedback I've got from this forum is that the Parasound amps are the perfect match for the rti's a9. My wallet is limited and I can only dream with the 2250, which is a very good one and will fit the purpose. No im waiting for some prices from local retailers. Lets see what I can get. If anyone think that has some think more to say I'll apreciate a lot. Thank you all.
