Circuit City trade in program clarification

Maybe someone here can clear this up for me since I am not getting any straight answers from CC. I bought some RTi100's from CC in December and now the 70's are going on clearance. I would like to upgrade if possible (the 150's would be even better). I asked the salesperson about the program and they told me to bring my speaks in so the manager could determine a trade in price. I checked the website and they only refer to paying the difference between the new speaks and the old, they never say if the store will give the full purchase price of the old. I emailed customer service twice and I still don't feel I got a straight answer. Here's what the emails state:

MY QUESTION -
MESSAGE: Regarding the speaker trade up program.

How is the price of the trade in speakers determined? Is there any
minimum upgrade amount? Any other exclusions?

1ST ANSWER -
Dear Chuck:

Thank you for writing to Circuit City.

I understand that you would like to know about our speaker trade-in
program.

While Circuit City is always looking for new suggestions, we do not
currently participate in a trade-in/trade-up product program other than
our one-year speaker trade-up policy for in-home loudspeakers.

If you buy a pair of home speakers from Circuit City, you have the
option of upgrading to a more expensive pair within one year paying only
the difference in price. This allows you to get the speakers you need
now, while saving for the ones you want later.

MY 2ND QUESTION -
The program you referred to is what I was asking about. You mention
"difference in price" I assume that refers to the difference between
what
was paid for the 1st set and the price of the second.
I asked about this policy in one of your stores and the salesperson told
me
that I would have to bring my speakers in so the manager could determine
the
price of them. According to that comment, I can only assume they were
not
going to give me full purchase price as credit.
I am within the year for original purchase.

2ND RESPONSE -
Dear Chuck:

Thank you for writing to Circuit City.

I understand that you want to upgrade speakers purchased from Circuit
City.

The speaker upgrade policy offers you incentive to upgrade your speaker
purchase to a better quality speaker within the 1st year of purchase.
If you have purchased speakers or powered subwoofers from us, you can
exchange them for credit to purchase better quality speakers or powered
subwoofer within the first year of purchase.

The speaker upgrade is a one-time customer service that we provide. The
exchanged speaker should be in like new condition. The Store/Floor
Manager gives the final approval of the speaker exchange. Hence, I
request that you visit one of your nearest Circuit City store for
assistance on this issue.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and trust that the
above information is useful.

Anyone have any comments on this?

What they said, as long as their in great sellable shape.. you get full value includeing tax, ie: if you paid 800.00 for your set, and he new ones are 900.00 you trade yours in and pay the 100.00.. He most likely wanted to see them to see the condition of them.. they no longer sell the old rti's and he doesnt want to get stuck with an unsellable pair is my guess.. assuming they are in fine shape you should have no problem

At our CC, we give the whole original purchase price towards the new pair.

Just keep things short and sweet. First, determine the model # of the new speakers from the web site. (like PLK RTI8BLACK) Take your speakers to the customer service desk with your receipt and say "Hi, I'd like to trade these speakers up to the PLK RTI8BLACK's". Should be no problem.

Spas, I assume that you've owned the speakers for less than a year, right? If so, you're good to go.
