Has anyone out there built SDA rears and does the SDA effect still work in that arrangement

I would like to scratch build a smaller pair of SDA rears for my theatre set up, and I am wondering has anyone tried that, and how well does the SDA effect work when four SDA,s together are utilized Thanks for your expertise...

    Not too well.
1st rear channels don't even have a lot of content unless you use all channel stereo mode.
2nd, even if it works, listening position and speaker setup is not perfect for sda effect so hardly noticeable.
But it works fine as rear speaker regardless.

    Klipsch RB81, KG3.5, B&W DM602.5, Polk.
Subwoofers: Klipsch RW10, Triad ProSub Bronze.

Yep. Rear speakers tend to be much closer to the listening position, so the SDA wouldn't "bloom" properly.

There's no reason to suspect that SDA is inappropriate for rear channels, especially rear channel music. SDA is inappropriate for SIDE speakers, but not rears.

It's just that "real life" issues are likely to get in the way of proper rear speaker placement.

Also keep in mind not only do you have to run 2 sets of speaker wires to them then you have the interconnect which depending how good you are either snaking wire or concealing them some how that's a big job or a major eye sore.I was lucky running wire was my profession years ago and I had enough clearance to hide my Klipsch rears plus an uninsulated wall to hang them on.

I tried to use my CRS+ as rear speakers in a 5.1 home theater setup and I didn't like it at all. My 2Bs and a small center speaker seems to do a better job in my room. If I could move the sofa away from the back wall the 5.1 setup might have worked better but I didn't have that option.

Throw some Monitor 5's or 7's on stands as rears & call it a day

I am in the works of buying a pair of SDA-CRS from a forum member for my rears...have plenty of room for them and will post pictures when I get it completed. My thinking is that they will sound fantastic, but I want to try it for myself rather than believe everything I read on the internets. :)
