I am seriosly considering getting one know. I have had time to get some lose change together (lol). Was going to buy one at CC but the don't have the best of options. I would rather pay now for a good sub then later when i realize that my sub isn't what i thought it was going to be.

But im not sure which one to get.

The 25-31 is the cheapest sub they sell and was just alittle over the budget i had planned for on buying a sub. Wanted to stay around $500 but the 25-31 is only 50 bucks extra.

Then i looked at the 20-39 and was like damn 50 bucks more gets me an even lower range for the sub.

Im in an apartment for the next 3 mths. then i will be moving to a duplex so space is a little bit of a problme for know but it won't be when i move out.

Which one should i get and reasons?
What else will i need to hook it up?

Thanks,

Yale

The only things you'll need to hook it up are an electrical outlet and a good cable for the sub.

As far as space goes they'll both take the same floor space with the 20-39 being a little taller.

IMHO the 20-39 is a better choice BUT call SVS Sales Service and discuss your room size etc. with them and they'll point you at what is probably the best choice for your situation. If you are familiar with the place that you'll be moving to then since you'll only be where you are for a couple more months I'd use the measurements of that room instead of where you are now.

The 25-31 will extend to about 22 Hz in-room.

The 20-39 will dig down to about 17 Hz in-room. In exchange for this extra extension, this model won't play quite as loud (maybe by 2 dB) as the 25-31 can in the >23 Hz region.

If you have a bigger room with a lot of ft3 to move, the 25-31 makes a lot of sense. As an option, you could go for the 25-31 tuned to 22 Hz with a longer vent. This is a free and very popular option at the time of build - just ask for it in the comments block.

If the room is more moderate in size and you won't be really blasting it, the 20-39 is the WTG, as it offers the best combination of extension and output IMO.

well i will be going to the new places next weekend to finish upthe paper work. While i am there i will get the deminsions of the room.

From that i will be able to figure out the cubic feet.

I let you know what i find out.

So the 25-31 hits hareded than the 20-39?

I listen to alot of music and watch movies when i can.

So my HT is used probally 70% of the time for music.

I'll probally go with the 25-31 cause i want to feel the bass when im watching a movie.

Also Spec talked about tunning it to 22 what would that do for me and my listening habits?

Yes, the 25-31 hits harder in the >23 Hz region than the 20-39, but it doesn't extend quite so deep. In a moderate size room either on of them will probably hit harder than you will ever need.

The "22-31" just splits the extension difference between the two models while retaining the smaller size of the 25-31 enclosure. It might give up 1.0 dB to the 25-31 in max output - hardly noticeable.

I would tend to go with the 20-39 if the height is not an issue, or the "22-31".

    yale,

honestly.. i think you'll be happy and pleased with either sub. SVS doesn't make a bad sub at all. I have the 20-39, and i love it.. it's almost to much sub for my small living room. but hey. it can always be turned down if it gets to loud. seriously. in your situation, either will work i'm sure of it.
