Def Tech BP 20 Opinions??

Early Def Tech BP 20s I am not sure what to think of these. They produce a large lifelike soundstage with vivid images. Maybe to vivid. The have a very balanced sound and images have some meat to them and are not thin. Sometimes I think they are just a touch cold but what I am really wondering about is that they seem to be slightly over dynamic. At moderate levels for example sudden upswings in songs sound a little to dynamic or shouty and maybe slightly compressed. Anyone have experince with these?? Thanks

Used the same cables (Oval 9 ,copper oval ICs VH audio power cords) I have used on Monitor 10s RTA 12B avd C SDA 2 2A 2B , Vandersteen 2Ces, Von Schweikert VR 2s Polk LS 90 LS 70 Infinity CS 3009s NHT 2.5is.
If the BPs are more geared toward HT that would explain it.

Would like to find some orignal Analysis Plus oval 9 purple and black which i used for 9 years I use the newer yellow and black now and I am pretty sure it is not helping. The original may help.

Yeah, they are geared more towards HT. Do you have an amp on them ? Maybe the gain is too high, try cutting down on the gain. If your using a receiver cut the speaker level down. "Shouty" to me says the signal is being over driven.

I've heard plenty of def tech speakers and your description doesn't seem characteristic of their sound to me. They can be a tad bright though and given your cable choices I can't imagine that hasn't taken care of at least some of the issues. What source are you using ?
