Which to get? SRS or SRS1.2 or SRS1.2TL

I have a choice to get a set and this guy seems to have it all. Other than different tweeters and crossovers (and interior bracing), do they all sound more or less the same? Is there going to be a "wow" difference between them?
I'm not planning on upgrading the crossovers, and don't know yet how the tweeters are going to sound. (I just spent a bunch on my SDA1C tweeters, which I could stick in the SDA or SDA1.2...)
I'll be running them with an Onkyo M-508, but don't know which pre-amps he has.
Any sound recommendations (pun intended)?

TL... but do not rule out the crossover upgrades and other performance enhancements. These speakers can and will outperform other speakers costing upwards of 10k and more if you do them right. The Gear... Carver "Statement" Mono-blocks, Mcintosh C2300 Arcam AVR20, Oppo UDP-203 4K Blu-ray player, Sony XBR70x850B 4k, Polk Audio Legend L800 with height modules, L400 Center Channel Polk audio AB800 "in-wall" surrounds. Marantz MM7025 stereo amp. Simaudio Moon 680d DSD

If I do the crossover upgrades, would it matter which ones I got? $1k for SRS v/s $15 for TL. I could save the money upfront on the spkrs and use it towards upgrades. If all the same stuff goes into the upgrade, wouldn't they sound about the same afterwards?

You might want Vr# Mods to give you pricing of upgrades starting with the different options for speakers you purchase.
However, my understanding is that, if you want to upgrade from whatever SRS model to the "ultimate" using contemporary components, the cost should be the same -- same labor, caps, resistors, wiring, tweeters, inductors, etc.
But, seek advice from Vr3 Mods or one of the other experts ont he Forum -- e.g., Westmassguy.Family Room, Innuos Statement streamer (Roon Core) with Morrow Audio USB cable to McIntosh MC 2700 pre with DC2 Digital Audio Module; AQ Sky XLRs to CAT 600.2 dualmono amp, Morrow Elite Speaker Cables to NOLA Baby Grand Reference Gold 3 speakers. Power source for all components: Silver Circle Audio Pure Power One with dedicated 20 amp circuit to main panel.
Exercise Room, Innuos Streamer via Cat 6 cable connection to PS Audio PerfectWave MkII DAC w/Bridge II, AQ King Cobra RCAs to Perreaux PMF3150 amp (fully restored and upgraded by Jeffrey Jackson, Precision Audio Labs), Supra Rondo 4x2.5 Speaker Cables to SDA 1Cs (Vr3 Mods Xovers and other mods.), Dreadnaught with Supra Rondo 4x2.5 interconnect cables by Vr3 Mods. Power for each component from dedicated 20 amp circuit to main panel, except Innuos Statement powered from Silver Circle Audio Pure Power One. -

No.Is there going to be a "wow" difference between them?
Definitely.I'm not planning on upgrading the crossovers
Big mistake.I'll be running them with an Onkyo M-508
If it is common ground it won't matter, if it's not, you will not be able to use it with the SDA SRS.Any sound recommendations
Get the 2.3TL's instead.

That F1nut! So few words, so much wisdom.
If common-ground isn't a problem, the SRS (no suffix) are the least-expensive and MAYBE best-bang-for-the-buck of the big guys. MAYBE. I have been told that the bass is larger/rounder/less-tight than the newer versions; but I've never confirmed that.
If you EVER want to use non-common-ground compatible amps (such as monoblock and/or bridged/balanced) it's 1.2 or 1.2TL, plus an isolation transformer such as a Dreadnaught. The 1.2 can be converted to TL--Polk used to offer a kit to do that--but I don't have a parts list. You'd just have to buy all the upgraded parts including 8 tweeters, by comparing the schematics.
Therefore, 1.2 or 1.2TL doesn't matter much, if you're upgrading the speakers anyway the parts cost is about the same--you just order the TL stuff at approximately the same dollar amount as the non-TL parts would cost.
