Rode Winter Storm Gorgon out!

We had an appointment in Des Moines this afternoon got done at 1pm it just started snowing here is what it looked like at 2:30 pm leaving the Bass Pro Shop never miss that store on the drive back regardless of conditions but made it short as this storm was upon us drove 45 mph tops all the way home.

Between downtown Des Moines to a little east of Iowa City we costed 4 accidents 1 was a Semi turned over and 17 cars in the ditch until we made it home right when the Storm was just hitting our home town. Needless to say we rode storm Gorgon out.

A shot of I 80 east when it started coming down, to those of you in Central Illinois should be getting hit soon if it hasn't already spose to snow an inch an hour around here until about 3 am so those of you that have to travel in this be careful.

Yeah at least they weren't shots from the ditch, the wife took them from her cell phone, you would not believe how many times she told me to slow down she made sure I kept both hands on the wheel.

And you are safe which is all that matters...It only reached 76 here in SW FL and is 72 right now... I am sooo glad to be out of the cold...haven't worn long pants or socks since i got here...

I was thinking bout paying you a visit Ryan had the weather not been so bad. The wife had an appointment and we stopped for bite at that Uncle Bucks they started sending some of the employees home due to the storm so we high tailed it out of there once we got to Altoona it was white out conditions is it still coming down there? It is snowing like crazy in the QCA glad we missed the 20 car pile up we were on Exit 8A on I 35 and there were a few accidents when it first started snowing. Drive safe tommorow.

We are waiting for it. Supposed to start snowing here in central Ohio any moment. We didn't want to be caught unprepared so we had to run out and get the kids a couple new sleds.

Actually the pic was taken this Christmas Day,,,it was windy and kinda chilly,,hence the hoodie and jeans,,,us beach bums must suffer thru winter too!

A Hoodie on the beach sounds great bout right now we picked up 7 inches on top of a few that was already on the ground my days attire will belong Johns face mask snow boots jackets -2 degrees with -20 windchills. I would love to be on the beach about now.

We ended up with 8 inches at our place on top of the 2 inches we already had.
Even better, low tonight of -10. high tomorrow of -8 then a low tomorrow night of -12. Wind chills will be in what I affectionately call the "convergence zone"...that's when it is so cold that Fahrenheit and Celsius no longer matter since they are the same number. Hehe

Only 4-5" here and about 19 degrees. Kids are tougher than me. Been playing in it all morning, and refusing to come in.

We also got the cold here, but thankfully the major snowfall missed us this time.

I've seen dozens of cars in ditches off the interstate up here with only 1/2" or more on the ground during heavy snowfalls. The reason? Just because people are used to driving in snow, unlike down south, people up here still think they can fly down I-95 at 75 miles+ even when the surface is getting slick, because they are "slick"!

I always slow down. You have to use your "brain" occasionally? Right?

Saturday we got 3-4 inches, it came down really wet at first, then just nice & heavy. but Sunday the temp plummeted to around 7 degrees and my doors froze shut
took most the early morning for the sun to work on it enough to open them ..kept turning my truck in the sun so it could work on it.

Yep its cold just got in from cleaning up mine and the elderly lady's property's yard thank god for snow blowers! The clouds will give way to clear skies to night dropping the Temps to -8 with the high only -3 with -30 windchills same story Thursday with -40 windchills.

Winter is officially here, you beachcombers got it made with those Temps that's for sure, the only good thing with this cold is It's time to put up the ice shanty this weekend catch fish and drink some beers.

Yes we do have it made but we pay out the backside for it. If the wife would go for it I would move to the lot lower cost of living snow blown mid west. My mom retired to OK for the lower cost and my brother will never come back to CA because of the 30% pay cut with the cost of living.

Be careful in the cold, when I was stationed in MA I saw a lot of people get messed up due to the cold. keep warm be keep your head about it.
