colors my t.v. can't handle

I've had my Toshiba 40'' 40L2200U for about 2 years now and there are 2 colors it can't deal with. 1. is fuchsia and the other is that bright international orange like on traffic cones. Yes of course I tried to adjust contrast and tint but then flesh tones would be thrown off so adjusting is iffy at best. I believe I had the same problem w/ my older smaller Toshiba. Is this inherent w/ the brand and since I can't find the little booklet that came w/ the t.v. I'm a bit lost. Menu is easy to get in to and like I said there is room for adjusting but it still does not like those 2 colors. About the booklet it astounded me how small it was compared to the older one which was a book w/ different languages and went into great detail. I also run a VGA cable from my computer to the t.v. to watch Dead concerts on You-Tube but again this problem was before I even ran the cable. Cost was $380 @ Costco....

Can't say if it's inherit to the brand, but it may be to lower cost TV's. There's always a trade-off that comes with cheaper prices.

Normally I would suggest you have it professionally calibrated, but that might cost you half the price of the TV itself. You can however google pro settings for your model and plug what you can into the menu yourself and see if that helps.

Also, if your using a cheapo HDMI cable, don't. Get something of decent quality.

Thanks Tony and yes I guess they are not the best HDMI cables and long ones at that. To change them would problematic w/ no guarantee of a fix. I have 1 going from t.v to cable box and 2nd going to the output of the Yamaha 665 to get on screen YPAO and audio is run from optical toslink from cable box to the Yammy so I can have on screen t.v. and tunes at the same time which as you know you can not do w/ HDMI cable splitting the signal. I will either Google the brand or call Toshiba for adjusting advice.....

As Tony said, someone has probably posted calibration settings for it. I found 'em for my Panny plasma on AVS forum, and they make the TV look so much better.

I used to have about the same problem on some tube TV's for some reason. Maybe those two colors are just hard to get right. Years ago, in particular, I had a problem especially with the colors of the Cincinnati Bengals helmets, either they changed the colors of them over the years or my 8 yr. old Toshiba 22'' lcd can process the color right. The problem I had was the orange of their uniforms or helmets with have a weird slight glow of pink hue.

try connecting the cable box cable directly into the tv, bypassing the avr. Could be the avr or 2 iffy cables causing a weak signal. Then you are using one less cable and no avr processing. At least its free and might give you some ideas on what will improve the pic.

I could remove the output cable to the avr since it's been dialed in for ages now and I rarely go on screen for any adjustments.Yes, I already do go directly from tv to the cable box as explained in 2nd post.

Then replace that one HDMI cable LW. Why is the cable box so far from the TV anyway ?

It's not w/ my distorted logic I thought it would be a bit better to have some slack in the wall then to come up short. I had no idea at the time that these cables are as important as audio I/Cs or quality spkr cable. There is an up date on the color front.I went back into the menu to picture settings and readjusted all color and brightness settings to a much better result.I just needed some patience w/ it.Now I did disconnect the output cable w/ no change what so ever. The picture just shows the distance from bottom of t.v. to the top inner shelf of my console.

Whats with the baby center speaker ? Looks like a nasty relative nobody wants to talk to.

It's part of the Klipsch #500 H/D spkr surround set. At the time when H/T was all the rage these smalls sounded better than any other brand I tried including Polk,Def-Tec and another brand that escapes me now. Tony, truth be told since I got my 2Bs all modded I audio mute the Klipshs most of the time now and run every source I have through the 2Bs unless it's very late then I go back to the smalls for neighborhood piece of mind...lol
