Lost the sub?

Finally had time to hook up the b&k and no longer have sub output. I had base before through the LFE connection. The only change is the front l & r 7's are connected to the amp with rca's connecting the sc-27 and amp.

What did I do wrong?

Why would you lose the sub connection ? Adding an amp to a receiver has nothing to do with the subwoofer connection.

When connecting the amp, are you using the front left and right pre-outs on the receiver ?

I wish I new. Going to re-run mcacc in the morning and if that does not work I will do some wiring trial and error.

I triple checked the connections, so thinking it has to be a bad sub cable or the LFE port is bad. What else could it be?

I do not have an extra RCA cable for substitution, so is there a way I can check to see if the cable is ok? And check the LFE port?

If it's the same cable you were using before adding the amp, I doubt it's the cables fault. The sub connection and speaker connections have zero to do with each other.

Are you sure your using the right outputs to connect the amp ? The front left and right pre-outs are right below the subwoofer pre out so it may be easy to plug into the wrong one.

I now have base. I had to wiggle the RCA cable at the receiver. I've had to do this in the past when I lost base. So tonight that was the first thing I did and repeated without success. Tried again just a few minutes ago and it worked. The connection fills tight, so it must be an issue with the cable or port. Sometimes if the DW bumps the cable while vacuuming it will lose signal. Might try a new cable with locking RCA's.
  • If you had to wiggle the cable, then that's probably the problem, don't you think. Be sure the post of the cable end isn't broke off inside the Jack. That's happened to me before and was lucky enough to be able to remove it with pliers.

We'll not sure but I will check the post. This has been an ongoing issue at the receiver connection. I rotated the cable and the problem still exists which leads me to think it's the jack or both cable ends are bad. I have plans to upgrade the sub cable and now seems to be a good time.

Is their a way for me to check the LFE jack? To lazy to take it to the shop.

You could pop the top and see if the wires inside are solid at the jack. Maybe use some contact cleaner such as deoxit on the outside of the jack too. Given your description though, sounds more like a cheaply made cable to me.

Go into MCACC and set the subwoofer setting to PLUS instead of YES. That is one possible reason your sub wouldn't be working.

EDIT: Just read where you wiggled the cable and it worked but then didn't again. My suggestion might not be the issue.
