B&K AV5000 5CH Amp

Very nice functionally and visually. Have it hooked up to my Lsi's and it pushes them very nicely. Moving up the food chain. I've actually only had this a couple weeks. Purchased here off the forum. Looking for $175 plus actual shipping. PayPal is good via gift.

Great deal here kids.

Is this 125x5 for 8 ohm speakers? Pondering something like this for my living room. Just have to decide if I want to buy less than 200w per.

An extra 75 watts will only get you less than 3db of extra head room ;). Good piece at a great price. GLWTS

Thank you sir. So I guess I was looking at the II earlier, which has 125wpc. Looks like this one is 105x5. Hmmmmmm.

Don't get caught up so much in wattage if the amperage is there...

I put a Kill-A-Watt on my 200.5 (proving a point to my wife about if the space heater or amp were tripping our breaker, which I won handily) and I was only pulling about 120 watts from the wall at my normal listening volume for TV's and movies....

So I'd think it should be able to handle your stuff fairly well. I am in love with my 200.5 and am done looking for another amp unless somehow a Sunfire TGA-7200 floats along at 500 dollars lol..... And even then I may just play with the Sunfire and then sell it...

The B&K stuff is THAT good. I'm keeping tabs on where the 200.2's are on the forum nearby so if I want to go 7.1, or go with 2 of em for my RS-II's I've got another amp I can buy :smiling_imp:

Just for some background I am the previous owner of this amp. Bought it from MKZ on the forum years ago. This has performed flawlessly over the years that i had it running a variety of speakers including JBL, PSB, and polks. Drove my LSi setup fine with no issues whatsoever. I stepped up to the series ii after i got an incredible deal on one. As far as i can tell from my ears, there is no noticeable difference between the two. Same clean power and nothing that i can tell that says thie series ii drives my setup any better or louder than this one. I actually regretvthe upgrade since i could have put the money elsewhere but thats part of the fun with this hobby. Whoever gets this is getting a great deal from an honest seller. Look around at ANY other five channel amp - for $175 it is virtually impossible to do better.

    Thanks Ender. I trust your judgement/feedback (I know, I know, I'm crazy...)

I just want to make sure I "buy once, cry once." I'd hate to get this into the fold and then think 3-6 mos later "I sure wish I had more juice."

This is going to be powering an Rti-10, Csi-3, FXi-3 set up, and I'm currently using a Denon 3313 to push everything. I know YMMV by a good bit, but would I see a huge uptick in performance with this addition?

For $175 this a no brainer. Gear similar to this sells on fleabay for considerably more. Plus you get it here from a great seller.

Yup, and I do not buy anything at all from fleabay. Honestly, all of my current audio gear came from either Crutchfield scratch and dent sales at their local store, or from this forum. I only shop where I can trust people. :)

You can always WANT more juice but do you need it or not? Honestly if you felt you needed more than this I'd connect each front (RTi10) to 2 channels on the B&K (ghetto bi-amp) and put your surrounds on the Denon....

But I dont think you will need it.....

But I understand. I went from a Carver AV-705x then added a Carver M1.0t for my LSi 15's, then sold the M1.0t and bought the 200.5 and now have sold the 705x.....

If I had just started with something like the 200.5 I'd have been better off.... but you never know till you've tried. And you need to keep in mind the whole double wattage = +3 db. So your talking a 3db difference...

I always operate on the basis that it is better to have it and not need it, rather than need it but not have it.

just my $.02 but this would move Rti's extremely well. You should see a very nice bump in performance. As Shawn and I pointed out this amp has been running Lsi's without a hiccup. Rti's, piece of cake.

By the way, you will need to assume probably $50 to ship unless I can ship to a business or are near to me. hell, the way this is being raved about maybe I should just keep it. :)

OK. So I'm pretty spent with the holidays just done. I could send the $$ on 1/23/15. If you sell between now and then, awesome. If not, I'll have the $$ ready to go on that day.

Thanks for the input all. I think this would step my HT game up a decent bit.

Thanks man....just trying to pass along the good juju that has been shared with me over the years. This place is a shell of its former self these days but there are still a lot of good people here. Paying it forward is what this place is all about. :D
