Got told to just turn the volume down but then I won't be able to play at my wanted audio level... This is really BS.

Just called back and said turning down comfortable for me. They said they are going to send a boom mic my way and will be here in about 10 business days. Interestingly enough, though, they didn't ask for me to register my headset. Hopefully a new boom mic will solve the issue.

Get a pair of Astro's and you can turn them UP to your hearts content. Get out while you can.
