I haven't had much listening time yet. So far, I'm liking what I hear. It is driving a 2A3 amp I built a decade ago but never used much because I didn't like the preamps I used it with. Now the synergy is there and the sound is traditional SET magic. Great midrange, good high end detail with decent bass.

As for which 6H30, I'm running a standard Sovtek now but want to try some Russian military versions.

The reason I was asking about the 6H30 is because I have a Dodd preamp that was made for 6H30, but I've been using a 1950's Amperex Holland 7308 D-getter. The stock 6H30 didn't cut it and the 7308 sounds real nice. Fairly new to tubes so always wondered what diff a real top shelf 6H30 would make but not familiar with them at all. BTW, that photo of yours is ssssweeet.

Welcome back Ward! Any chance you will make it out to LSAF this year? I've run into several of your audio buddies up there, but never had the chance to meet you.

Also, if you feel like taking the trek, we are having a gathering at my place on Jan. 31 - the info is here: http://forum.polkaudio.com/discussion/165154/north-texas-gathering-jan-31-2015#latest

That is a beautiful yet simple preamp. I'm getting to the point that I want to get my hands dirty on projects like that, and I'm very envious of the skills you've acquired.

I would love to come hang with fellow audioholics but that is a long trek for me. As for LSAF, that is a real possibility. I've got enough gear that setting up a room isn't an issue, just determining what to bring.

As usual with all your projects, top notch. Love how clean that looks. Spent some time on your website the other night.
