collecting speakers to be used, yes!

Years ago when I told you guys that I run my speakers through a Niles 6 spkr selector some of you riled against the idea and said that any device downstream from your amp and pre just adds noise. Well I have to tell you either I have both the cleanest Adcom 555 and Niles SP-6 in world history because I've run my speakers and I mean all of them direct through the Adcom w/ no difference what so ever. Now I collect my few sets to be used and not in car parlance be trailer queens. Many of you have multiple sets some in different rooms but I don't have that ability so I use them and switch off when the mood suits the type. Yes the 2Bs rule the roost but I also have fun w/ all my sets. So do you collect to show them w/ nothing attached or do you utilizjhk9677e93i9.jpg

First, nice stuff! What models are all of those?

All of the above including myself are guilty as charged.

I have about half of what I own hooked up and usable. The rest is "rotated" in and out as the mood strikes me. Difference is the spice of....!

  • funny you should mention it as I have 15 speakers at my disposal all the time at a moments notice in the mancave. Four more are speaker stands currently. To top
it off, no speaker selector. (it adds noise I hear tell)

Collecting Yes. Using Yes.. Switching em in and out almost daily..
  • CNH, I have all sets in 1 room Klipsch H/D #500 smalls w/ 8'' pwrd sub, JBL 2060s(rarely used), DCM Time Frame 350s(2nd go 2s), ADC 303 ax w/ replaced peerless tweeters,American Acoustic Labs 8'1/2- 2 ways model # unknown, and the glorious modded 2Bs. Again all w/ the exception of the Klipsch are running through the selector and powered by the 555. In my bdrm I do have JBL G-200s running through a Nikko 6065 mid 70's receiver.

    That Bozak deserves a mate :- )

FWIW, the i]only[/i] problem with them ol' Bozaks is there is foam damping behind the (aluminum cone) tweeters that has degraded over the decades -- this tends to make the tweeters shriller than ol' Rudy Bozak intended them to be. It is fixable (although I don't own any myself so I've never tackled the tweeters). I have a friend in MA with a pair of 302 Urbans and he's done some re-hab on his.

  • thanks Mhardy! Good to know but slightly off topic. On topic it was one of the reasons I went w/ the 703s. (space, Though I now need stands and funds to do so). I go from digital to analog, tube to whatever, as the mood changes. I do have three pairs of speakers not in use and should find a home including some RT7s.
