Kenwood KM 208

Came across some stuff out doing houses, one of the items I picked up is this kenwood amp mentioned above. Not much on reviews except it goes with some type of matching KC 208 premp. " Homeowner did not have the matching KC 208, he dropped it years back". However, while online, some guy posted he was using an ipod with it due to the ipod's seperate volume control ability. Me not being much of an ipod user, is this possible to do on this unit? FYI, ain't NO way my parasound is going on this dirty smelly thing. Worst smell ever but it did power up so far. THANKS all...

Oh, kind of a funny story on how I hope to use this thing. I'm planning on giving it to a friend to use in his pole barn as last weekend his youngest boy kept begging to take their gator, hook up the log splitter and tow it over to a pile wood to be split. He got everything all hooked up/lined up and straight. All he had to do was go forward, we never even thought he'd still be in reverse, well he was, as he looking forward with a "big boy" smile on his face, hit the gas and he actually went backwards slamming into a set of shelves and down came an old sony receiver they were using. I felt so bad for the kid...Anyhow, thats what I want to get this old thing up and going for, give it the kid as I know he felt really bad about it.

What a story. Nice unit. I had a Kenwood KA-127 i think. 125wpc. I hooked a cd player to it & hooked it to a set of Polk S6's & it was a perfect match up. I could have run a Radio Shack cord to it & ran my iphone & listened to that. Kenwood made some nice little budget amps back then

Kenwood actually made some damn fine AM-FM tuners back in the day.

I don't know a thing about this amp cept what I have read so far, the back of it has a/b speaker inputs, speaker ohm selector and one whole input section, that about it. If the ipod thing can work, I plan on giving it to Nathan or as his older brother now calls him "nascar wannbe driver." Them boys are like 2 bulls in a china shop sometimes :#

Evidently, this KM 208 came with the KC 208 controller/preamp. I lost out on a KC 207 but did get the KT 87 tuner. I'm sure the KC 207 will do just fine for the planned use when I locate another one. As far as the tuner I got I have little knowledge about it.

Looks like the KT-87 tuner was from the late 80's era. At this time, most tuners had already gone to the digital design, no longer having the analog wheel and dial tuning design. Looking them up on E-bay, most sell nowadays around 12.00 to 35.00 dollars used.

I got a tuner for 15 bucks and it appears to work fine, not the cleanest but for a pole barn application should be just fine.
