I recently purchased 2 15in subs from partsexpress, 1000 amp in each. I placed them in each of the front corners(88lbs each) the bass output was almost half of what it was when I had them stacked & didnt sound right either. Just backs up what the Dr. says ,stack them.
My HT set-up Panasonic front proj, 120 in ws screen, ATI amp,Integra 9.8 pre-pro, 2 Polk rti150, cp 1000, 4 fx 1000, Pioneer blu-ray 2 SVS sub pb 12-ultra 2, & Paragon popcorn popper. ps 3 Coaster leather HT recliners.

Co-locating is the easiest way to minimize peaks and nulls, but not the only way.

In part reducing the number of bass radiators is also why all other HT speakers are best set to small.
