Receiver or amps for Rti10?

I'm new to this and I'm thinking about getting a pair of Rti10s along with the PSW505 for a HT set up. But I've read that these speakers require more power from external amps. So would this receiver not power them well enough?

ONKYO HT-R2295

And if so, what sort of amp would I need? I see them ranging from $200-$2000 and have no idea what I should get.

Thanks.

I am not familiar with that particular Onkyo, but Onkyo's are among the better receivers there, even with their lower priced ones, which you linked to. But those speakers will sound better with a separate amp, and that receiver has no upgrade path since it does not have preamp outputs. I would choose a receiver which has preamp outputs, even if you dont get a separate amp to start with.

I see, thank you for pointing it out. Do you have any recommendations on which receiver to get then? I don't need any fancy features or anything, just something that's going to turn on the speakers and connect to my TV. What would be the cheapest receiver/amp combo for it to work well?

A Pioneer SC model receiver with built in ice amps that hold their power better than most others. No additional amp needed....but it wouldn't hurt either.

Whichever receiver you get, make sure it has 5.1 preouts so you can add an amp down the road if you so choose. The receiver you posted doesn't have that, so you couldn't add an amp even if you wanted to.
