I'd post this at TheCarverSite and CarverAudio. Likely to get a hit there.
Not that we don't like Carver stuff here, just a LOT more love there"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
Like Dan said, try the Carver forums. Finding a Sunfire Classic Tube Pre With remote can be a tall order, especially if you need the phono section too. They are an outstanding preamp, and much sought after. Best of luck.Sunfire Theater Grand IV

I had one sans remote. The only way to get one is going used, and given that fact, I think there are better units you can get for the money the Sunfire is going to cost you. Anything by Gary Dodd, the Rogue 99 Magnum, and the Joule Electra 150 come to mind, but there are a slew of others that will compete or surpass the Sunfire, and be easier to find. The Gear... Thanks for your responses. I like the idea of the Sunfire as it has the trim controls . Besides the McIntosh preamps, the Sunfire is really the only option outside of the Chinese produced tube preamps with tone cpntrols.

Not entirely true, and with a good tube pre, tone controls are not needed. When I had the Sunfire, the tone controls were not used because of the way they either made the sound too bloated or sucked the life out of it.
They were a complete waste of time.
