RTI10 and Pioneer SC-1523-K

Hi,
I've been looking to upgrade my Monitor 50 and CS1 to the RTI10 and CSI5.

I keep reading that these speakers require a lot more power than the Monitor line.

My 1523-K specs show:
Power Output: Watts per Channel (1kHz@8ohm) 135 Watts x 9

Is this enough power? Will I need an external amp?

Am I better off with the Monitor 70? I really want an upgrade in clarity for movies and music. Movies/TV = 85%, 15% music/gaming.

If that Pioneer has class D amplification it should be able to deliver its rated power to 5 channels, after that the wpc will drop.

As for your question, it depends. The only way you will know is to buy those speakers and try it out for yourself.

  • Thanks for the response. I've read that the RTI line needs a lot of power so I wasn't sure if my 1523k would do w/o external power.

    The AVR is Class D.

You have a powerful receiver, probably would work out fine. An external amp would make it better yet.

Fot HT you should be fine. I don't see a sub listed, do you have one?

The 1523 is a nice unit, my bro has has the 1522 with Monitor 70's and it servers him well till he turns it up to ear bleed loud. As long as you dont try to get it to 110db you should be fine with the RTi10 without an amp
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

  • Hi guys,
I'm actually thinking of the RTI8s now with an SVS Sub PB1000.
  • Or the Rythmik LV12R.

I'm actually thinking of the RTI8s now with an SVS Sub PB1000.

That would be nice, or a PB2000 can never have too much sub.

The new PC2000 looks interesting as well. Small footprint, digs to 16hz.

here is sound and vision output on that receiver(same as 1523)

depends on listening habits, therefore an amp. the rti8's are nice my best friend has them driven by a Pioneer SC-1223.
He originally wanted the Rti10/12 but I told him " bro, the way you jam your punk rock and classic rock you will be up a creek right out of the marina". Ear piercing at times, sometimes when I hear his Rti8's I tend to get little nervous lol. they sound very good and if coupled with a SVS should be a very good match no matter what model sub you got.

    0.1% THD 1.0% THD
2 Channels Continuously Driven, 8 ohm loads: 120.6 watts 146.0 watts
5 Channels Continuously Driven, 8 ohm loads: 106.7 watts 127.9 watts
7 Channels Continuously Driven, 8 ohm loads: 95.1 watts 106.8 watts

Analog frequency response in Pure Direct mode:
    –0.11 dB at 10 Hz
    –0.04 dB at 20 Hz
    +1.16 dB at 20 kHz
    –1.18 dB at 50 kHz

Analog frequency response with signal processing:
    –0.24 dB at 10 Hz
    –0.10 dB at 20 Hz
    +0.77 dB at 20 kHz
    –57.62 dB at 50 kHz

This graph shows that the SC-71’s left channel, from CD input to speaker output with two channels driving 8-ohm loads, reaches 0.1% distortion at 120.6 watts and 1% distortion at 146.0 watts. Into 4 ohms, the amplifier reaches 0.1% distortion at 204.3 watts and 1% distortion at 247.3 watts.

There was no multichannel input to measure. THD+N from the CD input to the speaker output was less than 0.010% at 1 kHz when driving 2.83 volts into an 8-ohm load. Crosstalk at 1 kHz driving 2.83 volts into an 8-ohm load was –93.85 dB left to right and –95.21 dB right to left. The signal-to-noise ratio with an 8-ohm load from 10 Hz to 24 kHz with “A” weighting was –100.00 dBrA.
