Brown Sugar and many other R.S. songs. Didn't Bobby play with the Joe Cocker and Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour? So many musicians played with other musicians back then. Bobbie probably played with the likes of Buddy Holly, Eric Clapton,Leon Russell, Delany and Bonnie,Faces perhaps? He was a go to sax player ,always in demand. R.I.P Bobby

The man could blow the sax and helped make Sticky Fingers one of the best albums ever.

A great sax player and apparently a great guy to hang out with. Keith's autobiography details some of their exploits.

Just got my sacd of Sticky Fingers from CD Japan. Haven't heard it on the big rig yet, but on the still burning in CRS+ it's an improvement over the almost unlistenable redbook.

  • You guys are all correct. He was the go to studio sax man at I think Muscle Shoals and The Stones really latched on to him. I saw them @ MSG in the summer of '71 w/ Stevie Wonder opening then the Stones took the stage and opened with Brown Sugar did most of Sticky Fingers with Bobby Keys right there and they rattled off what seemed like 40+ songs. Very tight show with Mick Taylor swapping leads with Keith. Awesome show, and the late Mr. Keys was a highlight for sure. One other aspect of this particular show. This was the 1st and I think the only time that the Stones or any other band for that matter used spot lights behind the band to be reflected off mirrors hanging all along the stage trusses above and in front of the band. Yes they did have super trooper follow spots but this was just so different.

Been going through my collection and man, this guy has his signature on one heck of a lot of recordings...Lennons Whatever Gets You Through The Night...even the old Saturday Night Live intro in the 70's,I believe...could be wrong on that one,but I think he did it...

Rip Bobby it was nice to you for the short time I did..
Back in the late 80's when my late wife and I were dating, her older sister would always get us to babysit her cats and stay at her apt for the few days she was gone to party with Bobby and the Stones while they were in town, Bobby always gave us $3-400 to watch the cats while they took off somewhere, lol
Fun times back then..we got to play house underage...awesome, lol
