    Its from the '80 era. After the more popular silver face period of the late '70s. They weren't as popular due to the sea change of gear toward matched rack systems. A lot of them were cheapened with lighter metal and shaved transformer weight due to the time of higher freight costs from shipping. Marantz wasn't the only company that had to make this choice. Many users of their gear in the previous decade either held on to the nice stuff that still sounded good, switched to a more mobile rack setup or moved up the scale to hi-end gear made in the U.S.A.
