I purchased a new Yaqin SD-30a a couple of months ago & have been enjoying it since i got it. But ive been wondering if i can switch out the 12AT7 tubes ?
Before i got it i was thinking this to. But thought id listen to it for a bit. I have a budget system its hooked to & enjoy it with my budget.
Would ya'll think if i was to change these i would notice a difference in sound quality ?
I know i would have been better off if i had got a tube pre & i may do so later & place this unit on another set up. Any feedback is welcome. TIA

I have a Vincent hybrid preamp & amp with a couple of tubes and I don't think I can change mine out from what I've heard. I looked at some pic of yours and I'm not sure. But if you could I'd think it would effect the sound. here is a link to some of those tubes if you do start looking for some.

I liked the sound of the Mullard 12AT7 / ECC81 New Production Preamp Vacuum Tube. think its like $22

Of course you can. The Mullard CV4024/M8162 is an excellent sub. Make sure it's the M8162 version, not just the regular CV4024.

No tube lasts forever, you have to be able to change them.

For regular tube gear, yeah but not necessarily so on some others. My Butler amp for instance, and Musical Fidelity....both have tubes, different designs on implementation, but both should last a good 10 years if not longer. You would need to send back to the manufacturer to replace the tubes as doing it yourself would be nearly impossible....at least on the Butler stuff anyway.

I been wanting to open up my Vincent preamp and do a little cleaning, detox, and the pot is a little squeaky. That will give me a chance to look it over and see how the tubes are in there. What I read was I would have to have someone change the tubes for me if needed, but Vincent is very far away :)

Might be because on some hybrids the tubes are soldered in place, or the design requires something else to be tweaked in the circuit. Best left to those who know the piece.

Thanks Jesse. I would like Mullards to switch out the stock ones. Thanks for the numbers
