Teac A-H01

I just bought a Teac A-H01 for my wife as I need something that will effectively power 4ohm speakers, yet is small and has a subwoofer out. I found this little integrated amp, and liked the specs, and the internal DAC was just a bonus. Most little amps use a Chines chip amp, or a cut-rate class D modules, but the Teac uses the 50ASX2 by Bang & Olufsen ICEpower of Denmark. She wanted something to provide good music at a good volume, but didn't know whether she wanted me to install it in the kitchen or living room yet, but either way this amp will fit the space and the bill. It has a remote, analog pot for volume, and should be a good fit being fed with a Squeezebox Touch. I only have a few hours on the unit but I already highly recommend it as I'm not sure you're going to find something with better sound and better functionality for a cheaper price.

So far so good. I current have it set-up with a pair of Focal Sib speakers, a Focal Cub subwoofer, and connected to my PC via USB. The Async USB driver was not plug-n-play as I had to download it from the Teac website, but it works great now and provides nice musical reproduction.

It's adorabe - and I am not being facetious.
- As an old guy (and FWIW), the more traditional form factor of this TEAC works better for me aesthetically than the (fairly) new (and highly regarded) NAD D3020. -
I looked at the NAD as well, but also couldn't get past the form factor, and I liked that the Teac's amplification is a known quanity unlike most mini-amps; ICEpower.

If it's anything like my TEAC UD-501 DAC then I'll say that you've got a remarkable piece there. It's a neat little amp and it obviously has modern elements like an internal DAC and class-D output stage, but is a little old school as the power button is manual, and the volume is a motorized analog pot. I agree a lineout would be nice, but the subwoofer out is still rare at this price and size.

its a great little amp, I currently have it running my desktop computer system.. powering a couple of 6ohm Jamo speakers. The Head amp on it is pretty good too.. only wish it it had digital out on it incase I wanted to use it as a Dac only in the future.Main 2ch -
