Kitchen Remodel questions?

Getting ready to do a full remodel on a 10' by 11' kitchen. We have everything but the cabinets, still undecided on what brand to get. We don't want top of the line but, somewhere in the middle. So far we have looked at Diamond & Aristocraft, both have terrible reviews.

How serious do you take reviews on various kitchen websites? Would like to hear some of your experiences on your remodels.

Thanks

I would like to see the quality of the cabinets in person. Online reviews can be paid ads. we went with http://huntwood.com/ and are very satisfied with quality.

I did Huntwood as well. We've been pleased with them.

We are going with nicer Ikea cabinets on our current remodel, so we'll see how they turn out.

Find a local cabinetmaker and have him (or her) build 'em to your specifications -- when it is all said and done, the cost isn't at all outrageous (i.e., not considering what poorly-made mass-produced cabinets will cost).

If you're in central or eastern MA, I have a couple of folks I can recommend.

Mr. Hardy beat me to it. And 9 times out of 10, the extra money it costs, saves you in the long run.
As my grampy used to say, "Cheap ends up being expensive and expensive ends up being cheap." Another way of saying you get what you pay for.

I had mine custom built cheaper than IKEA cabs, all plywood, very well made. No one is going to ask what brand your cabs are, they just are going to look at how nice they look and how well they function. Just my two cents.

Custom is the way to go. They are not much more than stock, sometimes less, and much better quality (if you get a good builder). I'm having custom built for my new home. The cabinetry for the whole house is less expensive than just the kitchen from the big box stores and I know my contractors work is top notch. Shop around.
If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.
