Killer preamp! I've never been lucky enough to hear a vac preamp or amp, but all I read from owners is glowing comments about them. I hope you get it!

TOTL pre there pal. Been a long time since I had an ear on some of their older models but I sure remember I liked what I heard. I wouldn't hesitate owning one.

Thanks guys for the input. I have never heard any VAC gear... just a few short months ago, I would have had ten responses by now. The brain-drain here appears to be far worse than I thought. :(

I was hopeful I could pull the trigger on this one, but it is just out of my reach right now... Damn this hobby and it's all-consuming lust for something better.

Nothing wrong with wanting better....in anything. But my friend, one has to stop at some point and just kick back and enjoy what one has. Maybe devote some attention and funds to other aspects of your life. It's all about balance pal, not obsessions for a few certain things.

Marketing hype is all about creating obsessions. The next best cable, dac, pre amp....the next best car, cell phone, TV,.....all designed to put some separation between you and your coin. After all, spending is what turns the wheels of the economy.

As much as I dig high end audio, as a return on investment it pretty much sucks. I'd suggest getting your system to a point you can be happy with, then stop. Any extra cash you have after that stop looking at the next best thing in audio and invest that coin, buy a condo and rent it out, a 3 flat, stocks, anything that will make your retirement years a tad more pleasant. Take a vacation with the wife, devote some time and coin to helping others in need.....good for the soul I might add too.

Amazing pre. I have been using the VAC Standard LE pre for about 6 years and would not trade it for anything (except for exactly what you are looking at). Kevin Hayes (VACs owner) also continues to service everything they have ever made.
